My last student couldnt speak a word of French in May.. by December he had reached an intermediary to advanced level. He now speaks French fluently and understands a wide range of subjects. fast paced conversations and easily follows and understands French movies. He also and passed his final exams. I was very proud of him..
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure to choose a teacher who has shown successes, has always been involved in the language areas and who speak and teach in their native language. More importantly.. choose a teacher who is committed.. will go the extra mile to help you, encourage you, and never criticise you.. learning a new language is a wonderful experience and accomplishment and should be fun and enjoyable for both student and teacher.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
To be clear as to why they want to learn a language and for what purpose. Business? To communicate with friends and family in another country? To enhance their own knowledge? To perfect the accent? travel?
