I am a French teacher with 25 years of experience! I taught and lived in France and recently retired from the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools. I have experience teaching primary school students, middle school, highschool, and adults. I combine music, culture, and humor with language studies. I am looking forward to meeting you!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Assess their level, see if they want to work on specific areas (conversation? grammar? help reading litterature?), and then GET TO IT!!!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor of Arts in French from William Jewell College and a Masters of Arts in French from Johns Hopkins University. I have 30 years of teaching experience and would be happy to share my c.v. with you.

How did you get started teaching?
I began teaching at the Bryn Mawr School in Baltimore and immediately fell in love with the profession.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I spent six months in the Franche-Comté researching an obscure French painter, Auguste Pointelin. I worked with the Musée de Beaux Arts in Dole, planning the exhibit. Going to the opening, contributing to the catalogue, and meeting the wonderful people at the museum was for me a dream come true!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for someone who sparks interest, enjoyment, and joy. Look for someone who comes off genuinley interested in YOU! Avoid teachers who simply follow a book and don't tailor the lessons to your needs.
