Midwest Sports Training owner and coach. My love for baseball is deep and lifelong. First started playing as a toddler on the sidelines of my dad’s baseball and softball games—and it was through baseball that I learned all of life’s important lessons. Three year Varsity starter on the Driscoll Catholic High School baseball team and four year starter for football at Driscoll in Addison, IL. Continued his baseball career at Labette College in Parsons, Kansas for two years until a shoulder injury ended the dream. I'm a former Division II baseball player who has learned a lot about the game of baseball through great coaching and playing experience. I have played against MLB caliber players such as Cameron Maybin, Craig Kimbrel, Anthony Bass, David Lough, and Matt Adams - and it is that competition that gave me the skill set needed to teach youth about the intricate parts of the game that will help them down the road throughout their competitive playing career. I currently sit 5th all-time in Stolen Bases at Gannon University and would love to pass along what I learned to ready and able students of the game. My specialty is base running, bunting, and

Twenty years plus I have trained baseball and softball athletes. Mostly between 12 and 16 u levels. Specializing in training and developing hitting skills. There is a lot of moving parts in developing an average hitter into a good hitter, good hitting into a elite hitter. The athlete must understand the core basics of hitting. SET, LOAD, SWING MECHANICS, BALANCE AND FINISH. Then the secret becomes communicating with the athlete on how to apply the basic mechanics to his or her approach to hitting. This is were the difference comes in. Though practice, repetition and good old hard work and athlete can improve their skills which will result in

For someone like me who has played baseball at the Little League, pony league, and high school level this is to include one year of college. I love baseball and love being around those that enjoy the sport as well. I am someone who is enthused about the fundamentals of baseball and believe it’s to be fun. I bring fun and excitement and seeing others too well in their growth and would do all to enhance that aspect.

Your Baseball Training questions, answered

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Lessons.com.

How much do private baseball lessons cost?

Private baseball lessons cost $50 to $75 per 30-minute lesson and $80 to $140 per 1-hour lesson. The price depends on your location, the instructor's experience and reputation, the student's age, and whether the lesson includes extras like a video analysis of the player's performance.

Many coaches offer lower prices per lesson if you purchase a package that includes 6 or 10 lessons. The average package prices are:

  • 6 pack of 30-minute lessons: $270 – $420
  • 6 pack of 1-hour lessons: $450 – $720
  • 10 pack of 30-minute lessons: $400 – $600
  • 10 pack of 1-hour lessons: $700 – $1,100

Are private baseball lessons worth it?

Private baseball lessons may be worth it if your child currently plays the sport, loves it, and has expressed an interest in improving their skills and performance. Private lessons can help your child advance their skills, develop good habits, and avoid forming bad habits.

Motivation and a drive to improve are key factors in whether or not the lessons will actually help your child. It's important for your child to practice in between private lessons.

Children who receive private baseball lessons are usually more likely to advance to playing at higher levels than children who only receive group coaching during regular team practice. However private lessons don't guarantee your child will play collegiate or professional baseball.

What is the difference between private and semi-private baseball lessons?

In a private baseball lesson, the athlete trains one-on-one with an instructor who tailors the lesson specifically to their needs and skill level. In a semi-private lesson, two athletes work together with one instructor. Semi-private lessons, also called partner lessons, typically cost 10% to 20% less than private lessons. However, because the trainer's attention is divided between the two athletes, the athletes don't get the same level of individualized instruction as they would in a private lesson.

What age should you start pitching lessons?

Baseball instructors generally recommend that children start pitching lessons at around 8 to 12 years old, though there are no age requirements or exact rules. Learning fundamental pitching skills early on can help your child avoid developing bad habits that will be difficult for them to break later.

However, your child should not start taking pitching lessons until they are comfortable throwing the ball as well as catching the ball one-handed.
