I offer traditional conservatory-style training in a friendly home studio equipped with two grand pianos and adjoining sitting room for parents. Though I teach all ages and levels, my preferred age group includes ages 6 to 18. I believe in every individual's potential for making music and hope above all else to instill a lifelong love and appreciation for music, irregardless of how far each student wants to advance in his studies.
I believe my training, which includes The Juilliard School of Music together with my years of experience as a concert performer and teacher, give me the ability and insight to guide each student in traditional piano techniques and repertoire according to each one's particular gifts, personality and learning style.
In addition to individual lessons in piano, which includes technique, repertoire, theory, sightreading and solfege, I also offer classes in piano ensemble, recital and chamber music coaching, audition and exam preparation and training for the church pianist. I encourage my students to participate in recitals, perform in nursing homes and Seek out other opportunities for community service.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I encourage every student to first reveal themselves as a total person. This helps create a safe, friendly relationship that can be further explored and built on. Then, discussing their feelings about music and what their personal goals are in taking lessons, can establish a trusting and beneficial starting point for both student and teacher.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been teaching for a considerable number of years, in my own private studio and have taught at the United Nations School, St. John's College, the American Conservatory of Music, the Waring School and am currently on the perofming arts faculty at The Brookwood School. I have a BS in Piano Performance from the University of Southern Colorade and an Artist's Diploma from the Juilliard School.

Current prices are $28.00 for 30 minutes; $42.00 for 45 minutes and $56.00 for 60 minutes. Internet lessons over Skype are an addition $2 for each category.
How did you get started teaching?
I began teaching while in college.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with beginners to professionals. Several of my students have been accepted by The Juilliard School, The Mannes School, The New England Conservatory, The Jacobs School of Music, The Berkley School and the North Bennet School for piano technicians. Many have gone on to become professionals in their own right but I hope all of them will find joy in music for the rest of their lives.

Being allowed to play Beethoven's piano in his apartment in Vienna, Austria.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Choose a professional with a serious commitment to bringing out the best in each student. The teacher should have credentials, experience and a good reputation.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
They should know what their goals are and have a commitment to a regular practice routine. If they are serious about learning real piano technic with correct tone production and control of nuances, they should also seriously consider an accoustical piano over an electronic one.
