Hi...Hola...Me llamo Helaine o sea "Elena". I have years of experience as a "fun" and "successful" Spanish teacher and tutor. I tutor online on Zoom for those who don't live nearby or due to the Pandemic. I also provide additional value through a free online Quizlet account where for my private students I provide a ton of fun online flash cards, games, pronounciation practice, and practice quizzes that help drum in the material and provide an independent practice tool that can be used on your phone (through the app) or online in between classes.
I enjoy helping my students become proficient in Spanish in both speaking, listening, reading and writing...and I love making the language learning process fun too!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I earned my B.A. and M.A. in Spanish plus 30 credits beyond. I was a Spanish teacher for 24 + years....then a Spanish Medical Interpreter for 17 years...now back to tutoring. All told I have been a tutor during most of these years...so I have LOTS of experience. I also have studied, lived and worked in Madrid, Spain on a number of ocassions!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My new hourly rate is $80/hr. However, I very much recommend my very reasonable $110/90 minute class...because 90 minutes is perfect to cover what is needed to get more curriculum and practice in...and can be considered the equivalent of 2 classes in one sitting!
I am also now offering a block of ten 90 minute classes at a very discounted rate of $100. 10 ninety minute classes at $100 per class which is an upfront price of $1000 for the block of 10 classes which is a $100 savings over the individual class price for the block of 10 classes.

How did you get started teaching?
I start with a phone conversation to make sure we are both on the same page and so that we can get to know each other a little better before proceeding, and so that I can learn better your needs and motivation for learning Spanish. I also can give you the information on the textbook we will be using as a base for the classes...so that you can work on getting the text online as soon as possible.

I work with all types of students...professional adults, college, high school, middle school, and elementary school students.
