About
I really enjoy seeing the student as excited about learning as I am about teaching. I often contribute interesting stories or antecdotes that relate to, and help answer questions.
My first experience teaching was with a Guitar Clinic where I was teaching "How To Play By Ear", "How To Improvise In Any Key" and "Jamming To The Blues Scale". Then a parent of a student explained that her son was also interested in learning beginning Classical Guitar. I replied "Sure, if he wants to learn WITH me." I then took him (and I) through Book One, then Book Two. When he got to the 8th Grade he was tutoring other first year guitar students.
I have been teaching Beginning Classical Guitar ever since. I enjoy teaching the basics and proper technique. If the student wants to continue, I then recommend an intermediate or advanced teacher that is available in the area at that time.
Getting people excited about making music and enjoying it in whatever capacity they choose to use it.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, become a friend of the student. Talk about likes, dislikes, in-betweens...especially regarding music. Then I go over the history of Classical Guitar and some of the notable players.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was trained in brass (Trumpet and Cornet) in High School then Piano in College. My interest in Guitar started me on a journey of first playing popular genres by ear, and then translating my music reading knowledge (from Brass and Piano) to Classical Guitar.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$35. / 1/2 hour (1/2 hour sessions forage 15 and up only)
$60. / per hour (14 and younger)
