About

I am a State Certified piano teacher and participate in Festival and Student Achievement events, as well as other piano events. I've been teaching from my home for 25 years and have a dedicated room with two pianos, a grand and an upright. I teach all ages. I love the piano and enjoy teaching students how to play this instrument. It is gratifying to me to see how my students progress year to year.

It is extremely gratifying to see my students progress. A great way to achieve progression is through Festival and SAT. Since I generally retain my students over many years, I love looking over my various recital programs and see how far they have come in their piano skills. Many of them have used their skills for other things--church musician, self accompanied vocal, or just in learning another instrument!

Carol has taught my three daughters and one son piano for many years. Under her instructions, all four of my kids have become wonderful pianists. In addition to playing beautiful pieces, Carol teaches music theory and so my kids have applied all that they have learned to several other instruments because of their comprehensive music knowledge. Carol gives her students many opportunities to play in evaluations and competitions to gain confidence and poise. She also prepared my kids to take an optional student achievement piano exam every year at Oakland University. Prospective students should be prepared to put in time every week to practicing piano and written theory work, but the results are well worth it. You will be amazed at the level of piano playing that your students can achieve under Carols teaching. I have paid for many different lessons for my children over the years and Carols prices are well worth the money.

Amazing teacher! Highly recommend!
Each of my daughters began lessons with Carol around the age of 6. Over the past 10 years, she has taught them all so much and has challenged each one of them according to their abilities. She is also very organized and structured, which has been very helpful for their practice time throughout the week. She truly cares for her students and is very devoted to them!

Frequently asked questions

First, I assess how well the student can read music as well as how much theory the student knows as well as the students knowledge of scales, etc.  From there, I develop a plan for the student.  For students just starting, I have a certain curriculum that I start that covers theory, technique and reading.  I always try to incorporate some pieces that they themselves choose.

I have, myself, gone through over 25 years of lessons, the last being advanced lessons through award winning teachers.  I have an emeritis certificate through MMTA which states that I have taught students and kept up my professional enrichment for 25 years.  For my state certification, I had to pass several different aspects of piano/music study as well as present 3 students to the state organization for review.  I continue to belong to three different music organizations to enrich my knowledge.
