About
I am a State Certified piano teacher and participate in Festival and Student Achievement events, as well as other piano events. I've been teaching from my home for 25 years and have a dedicated room with two pianos, a grand and an upright. I teach all ages. I love the piano and enjoy teaching students how to play this instrument. It is gratifying to me to see how my students progress year to year.
It is extremely gratifying to see my students progress. A great way to achieve progression is through Festival and SAT. Since I generally retain my students over many years, I love looking over my various recital programs and see how far they have come in their piano skills. Many of them have used their skills for other things--church musician, self accompanied vocal, or just in learning another instrument!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, I assess how well the student can read music as well as how much theory the student knows as well as the students knowledge of scales, etc. From there, I develop a plan for the student. For students just starting, I have a certain curriculum that I start that covers theory, technique and reading. I always try to incorporate some pieces that they themselves choose.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have, myself, gone through over 25 years of lessons, the last being advanced lessons through award winning teachers. I have an emeritis certificate through MMTA which states that I have taught students and kept up my professional enrichment for 25 years. For my state certification, I had to pass several different aspects of piano/music study as well as present 3 students to the state organization for review. I continue to belong to three different music organizations to enrich my knowledge.
