I went to college to become a golf professional. After 14 years in the golf industry, I transitioned to the IT world. This was mostly due to the low(er) income that comes within the golf industry, but also due to the forecasted closure of golf courses nationwide (which is necessary, but also realistic... Tiger won't be around forever).
I still very much enjoy the game of golf and it's a passion of mine to teach the game to everyone. I still have dreams of playing professionally at some point in my life, but currently it's developing in the IT world and... playing/teaching as much golf as possible!
My biggest thing when it comes to teaching is to get you to understand the golf swing as simple as possible. Once we get the basic fundamentals down, you'll never have more than two swing thoughts in your golf swing (tempo and follow through). This applies to all levels of player. I can provide a comprehensive lesson that incorporates all components of golf or a specific part you're having troubles with. Reach out with any interest or questions. Thanks!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Understand their level of play and what they want to work on. It all usually starts with them warming up and hitting golf balls and then determining what to work on.

4 years of college for golf management.
14 years in the golf industry.

How did you get started teaching?
I first started teaching at age 15 for the city I grew up in. We had a summer program where I would help kids learn the game of golf. Outside of that, I started giving professional lessons at Giants Ridge around 2010. Once I left the golf industry in 2018, I still worked with clients that I had made while in the industry plus gaining more through word of mouth.
What types of students have you worked with?
All types and ages. From beginners to competitive golfers and from ages 8-70.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
It's all about fit and how well the teacher can articulate. Best way for this is to setup a short meeting or possibly text exchange to understand the student's needs and wants.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
If the student knows the exact thing they need, ask the most direct questions about it. Otherwise, it's okay to not know what you need and express that. A good teacher will find a good starting point and go from there.
