As a PGA Golf Professional for over 20 years, my passion is teaching and coaching. I have worked hard at honing my skills as a well-respected teacher and have developed a style that is positive, effective and fun. To be a successful teacher and coach one has to be able to connect with people on many levels and understand that each student has their own individual strengths, weaknesses and idiosyncrasies. We are not all created equal when it comes to swinging a golf club. There are certain common fundamentals-a sound grip, good balance and proper set-up, that are present in the swings of good players. But, people and their golf swings are as ... View Profile

I build from the ground up. Many instructors nowadays take on a client with the intent they will return within a short time frame. They will make this happen by taking the "band-aid" approach, giving you a short term fix. When the fix does not work anymore you will have to spend more money and return for another lesson. My service stands out because I focus on long term growth. I achieve this with my clients by making sure the fundamentals are sound and working from there based on what they would like to improve. The changes we make together will be sustainable if the work is put in. My main goal is to have the client leave a lesson with me f ... View Profile

Golf is one of those activities you can play your entire life.  Once a year, a couple times a year, or you want to play every week (or the really lucky ones who play every day); but no matter how much you plan to play, make sure to have fun. I like to make golf fun for my students.  We will laugh, we will talk, and together we'll explore your individual swing.  All golf swings are like fingerprints; each is unique. Knowledge of golf movies is not required, but entertaining. ... View Profile

Great Golf, Guaranteed (G3)

Great Golf, Guaranteed (G3)

I don't believe in treating people like robots and instructing the same mechanical golf swing for everyone. Instead, I believe in determining each player's natural, best swing -- then helping them refine and repeat it. Don't try to be someone else but rather become the best version of yourself. My passion for golf was forged during my youth and college years while working on the golf staff at a prominent Twin Cities country club. Since then, I've been giving lessons to friends and friends-of-friends for many years. I believe golf is truly "the greatest game" and I enjoy helping people play better. I've instructed men, women, and youth players ... View Profile

Whether you are new to the game and looking for a little guidance, or a professional looking to pursue (or improve on) the big stage, I'm here to help and I'm looking forward to meeting you. My approach to the golf swing and your game improvement is [unfortunately] unique in this industry. You will be very involved throughout the process and your input is needed every step of the way. I am a firm believer in setting smart goals and educating the student on why we are making changes - it takes 100% 'buy-in' for you to feel confident in the process and committed to the change/development. Hi! My name is Andrew Plunkett and I am a PGA Golf Coach from Ireland. I love golf and love teaching others how to improve, both for performance and enjoyment reasons. I pride myself on being a true GOLF coach, rather than a SWING coach. I teach my students about the physics of golf in very simple ways so that they know exactly what causes good (or bad!) shots. With this information, we discuss how to create different impact positions to produce the desired effect. For example, to hit the ball higher, a club's loft will need to increase at the moment of impacting the ball. I explain this to the student and discuss how we can add more loft at ... View Profile

Instruction is oriented to the individual goals and needs of the student.  I pride myself on all of my instruction being based on fact rather than many other instructors who employ more of a "guess and check" approach to teaching. I do not believe in breaking down students' swings and starting over.  I believe all students can use skills they've already learned to improve their club delivery and ball flight.

Bloomington Golf Instruction

Brad Pluth · Bloomington, MN

What or who inspired you to start teaching?

I started playing when my grandfather allowed me to caddy for him for six weeks and learn all the rules and etiquette before playing his first couple holes with a five iron at Hibbing Municipal Golf Course. I was five years old, and hooked! Played many other sports growing up and played Varsity Golf as a Freshman in high school. Played all three years at Central College while earning a degree in Economics.

What do you love most about your job?

I turned down a job offer to join the Federal Reserve Bank in Kansas City to take an assistant's position at Grand View Lodge in the Brainerd Lakes Area of Minnesota. That is where I got my first real taste of teaching with the Bill Skelley School of Golf and Steve Underhill. I was very nervous before my first lesson and he told me, "Show that you care and share what you know." Works I live by to this day. Little did I know that started the journey to working, taking seminars from, interviewing or taking lessons from 129 Top 100 Teachers, some have fallen off the list.

I've developed training programs based around helping people play better golf on the course, rather than hit balls off flat lies. I've developed a short game assessment to benchmark and measure improvement along with ten assessments to discover natural movement patterns which allows golfers of all ages and ability levels to hit the ball farther, straighter and more consistently.

I love seeing the ah-ha movements that people have during the lesson and realize how simple the game is when they understand the correct principles and apply the right strategies. It is way more enjoyable to see someone hit their first truly pure shot or chip in, than doing it myself. While I still enjoy competing, my primary focus is on my players development and helping the set and reach their golf and business goals.

What types of students have you worked with?

I find it fun to work with players of all ages and ability levels. I hear things to keep it simple from five year olds that I share with my 40-somethings and vice versa. I truly believe in drawing it out of the player so they own it, rather than spoon feeding them piece by piece.

What advice would you give aspiring students?

The one piece of advice I would give to players is dedicate yourself to excellence in all you do. Set your own standards and create your personal improvement plan. I'd be honored to be your coach.
