About
I don't believe in treating people like robots and instructing the same mechanical golf swing for everyone. Instead, I believe in determining each player's natural, best swing -- then helping them refine and repeat it. Don't try to be someone else but rather become the best version of yourself.
My passion for golf was forged during my youth and college years while working on the golf staff at a prominent Twin Cities country club. Since then, I've been giving lessons to friends and friends-of-friends for many years. I believe golf is truly "the greatest game" and I enjoy helping people play better. I've instructed men, women, and youth players from beginner to advanced. And, I've coached junior and high school players. My passion is teaching the game to younger golfers and beginners, so they can develop and enjoy the game for a lifetime. I have also coached hockey and other sports, so I understand how to relate with and instruct a wide variety of people. I've played golf at a high level and studied many of the most respected teachers. I have a simple, less technical approach that caters to the natural swing of each individual. The key to golf is understanding the fundamentals, finding your best swing, then refining and repeating it to develop consistency. I teach both power and control, long game and short game, physical and mental game, to develop complete players. Whether you're a beginner or a 20-handicap that wants to become a single-digit, I'd enjoy working with you. This is my hobby, not my profession, and proceeds from lessons are donated a local junior golf league.
Seeing the big smile on someone's face when they hit a great golf shot for the first time. Helping people learn how to truly enjoy the game and have fun on the golf course. Using golf as a platform to develop valuable character, life lessons and skills.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Contact me directly to determine a time and place that works for our mutual schedules. My preferred location is Braemar due to the size and quality of their practice facility. Upon discussing your current skill level and goals, I'll develop a personalized lesson plan for you and I'll send calendar invites for each lesson.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been giving golf lessons for many years and I've studied the teachings of many top instructors. I'm not nor have I ever been a PGA professional.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$50 per one-hour lesson for both individuals or couples/groups. For most, I suggest starting with a series of 5 lessons.
I do this to raise money for a charity. My time is limited. If I'm not available, then I'll direct you to other good instructors.
How did you get started teaching?
As a college student, I was asked by the Club President at a local country club (where I worked on the golf staff) to give lessons to his daughters. Based upon their success, I was asked to give lessons to others. Since then, I've given lessons to golfers of all ages and skills levels upon personal requests from friends. Recently, a friend asked me to provide a lesson package for a youth golf fundraiser and I agreed to offer lessons to the public because I truly enjoy helping people imrpove their golf game and enjoy this great sport!
What types of students have you worked with?
All ages and skill levels, both male and female but I specialize (and most enjoy) working with beginners. I've recently worked with several women (referrals) from a local corporate golf league. I've also worked with elite high school and college golfers.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
No particular event but I've enjoyed seeing the big smiles on the faces of the people that I've worked with this spring and summer whenever they hit a great golf shot.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find an instructor that will cater their teaching to your natural swing and personal preferences rather than teaching everyone the same mechanical swing with the same approach. If you compare the swings of today's top golfers, you will see clear differences yet you will see consistency. I don't believe in treating people like robots and instructing one, perfect swing. Instead, I believe in determining each player's natural swing -- then helping them refine, optimize, and repeat it. Don't try to be someone else but rather become the best version of yourself. You can't develop your golf skills without having a solid foundation. And, most importantly, HAVE FUN!!!!! You'll always perform better when you have a positive mental state. Find an instructor that you truly ENJOY spending time with. Someone who inspires confidence.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Where are you today, where do you want to be, and how long do you have to get there? It's good to set ambitious yet reasonable goals. Do you simply want to become a pretty good golfer, so you can compete and enjoy the game on a more casual, social, or business level -- or do you have aspirations to be a highly-skilled, competitive golfer?
