Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I assess their knowledge to make sure we start from their level. I ask a few questions to see what people can understand and what they are able to say in Spanish.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a EFL (English as a Foreign Language) teacher. I have been teaching Spanish for the last 25 years.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $50/hr
How did you get started teaching?
I was 20 when I started teaching and I was 21 when I got my degree as a EFL teacher.
What types of students have you worked with?
Adults mainly, but in my school we also teach children and teens.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently finished teaching 2 groups of young people who are learning Spanish to work in their communities.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure the teacher speaks Spanish in the class and encourages you to use your Spanish as much as possible.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
How much time and how much effort am I willing to devote to lessons? I believe that if students have a clear understanding of their time limitations, then teacher and student can work out a plan that is appropriate for their learning needs and their time limits.
