Scott H. says, "He has a vast knowledge of college-level baseball, which comes from his experiences in college himself. He will tell you what you're doing right, but most importantly he will tell you what you need to change to improve. He usually only works on one or two things at a time so that athletes are not overwhelmed with too much all at once. Great attitude and great to work with!" Read more

I enjoy taking a ball player that is ok and helping him stand out amoung other players. I break down the holes in there game and not just improve them but profected to the point that they are ready for the next level. I only work with catcher and hitters that play high school or equal level and above. I only work one on one and pitchers of catchers choice. Hitting we work on live pitching, cage work, tee drills, soft toss and other hitting work drills. I have a long history with this game and have a great way of coaching ballplayers. I'm very picky with who I work with and they must have the right frame of mind in order for me to work wit...

It’s obvious to most every one that a damage hitter swings a “big bat”. A bat that hits balls as hard as the hitter’s potential will allow leading to doubles, and home runs. But what is this Damage Hitter Shield? Is the question many are asking. And how can I swing it? A shield is known as a weapon of defense since as far back in history as most of us care to look. It comes in many shapes and sizes and has been described as shaped and sized specifically for the needs of the individual warrior who carries it. It’s primary job is to deflect and absorb the blows of an opponent’s knife, sword, spear, or arrow. These weapons all inflict puncture w

Your Baseball Training questions, answered

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Lessons.com.

How much do private baseball lessons cost?

Private baseball lessons cost $50 to $75 per 30-minute lesson and $80 to $140 per 1-hour lesson. The price depends on your location, the instructor's experience and reputation, the student's age, and whether the lesson includes extras like a video analysis of the player's performance.

Many coaches offer lower prices per lesson if you purchase a package that includes 6 or 10 lessons. The average package prices are:

  • 6 pack of 30-minute lessons: $270 – $420
  • 6 pack of 1-hour lessons: $450 – $720
  • 10 pack of 30-minute lessons: $400 – $600
  • 10 pack of 1-hour lessons: $700 – $1,100

Are private baseball lessons worth it?

Private baseball lessons may be worth it if your child currently plays the sport, loves it, and has expressed an interest in improving their skills and performance. Private lessons can help your child advance their skills, develop good habits, and avoid forming bad habits.

Motivation and a drive to improve are key factors in whether or not the lessons will actually help your child. It's important for your child to practice in between private lessons.

Children who receive private baseball lessons are usually more likely to advance to playing at higher levels than children who only receive group coaching during regular team practice. However private lessons don't guarantee your child will play collegiate or professional baseball.

What is the difference between private and semi-private baseball lessons?

In a private baseball lesson, the athlete trains one-on-one with an instructor who tailors the lesson specifically to their needs and skill level. In a semi-private lesson, two athletes work together with one instructor. Semi-private lessons, also called partner lessons, typically cost 10% to 20% less than private lessons. However, because the trainer's attention is divided between the two athletes, the athletes don't get the same level of individualized instruction as they would in a private lesson.

What age should you start pitching lessons?

Baseball instructors generally recommend that children start pitching lessons at around 8 to 12 years old, though there are no age requirements or exact rules. Learning fundamental pitching skills early on can help your child avoid developing bad habits that will be difficult for them to break later.

However, your child should not start taking pitching lessons until they are comfortable throwing the ball as well as catching the ball one-handed.

I signed up my 9 year old son to start working with Kris at the beginning of December. He did not have hardly any experience with baseball. It has been a an amazing experience. My son has made huge strides and I have continuously seen improvement week over week while working with Coach Wheeler. Coach does a great job working with my son. He is honest and gives great feedback. I would highly recommend his lessons for anyone that is interested.
