I have a Bachelor's Degree in Jazz Composition and a Master's Degree in Classical Guitar Performance. I have nearly 35 years of teaching experience. Now providing live online lessons through Zoom. I have been absorbing, performing, transforming and of course teaching tradional American music forms for most of my life. My private lesson teaching has been contiuous for over 20 years now. Integrated with the traditional styles is a foundation in music theory, the key to the kingdom for ear playing and composition.

I've been teaching privately for over 15 years. I take students of all ages and skill levels. I focus on getting my students to play familiar songs and also teach them to read music. I cover folk, rock, classical and more. Over the years, I have developed my own method that I tailor to each individual person I work with. Nothing makes me happier than helping people meet their musical goals :-)

Learning to play an instrument involves practicing. Wow, what a stupid sounding statement. Practicing is only marginally profitable unless you know “how” to practice. I could tell you right here, in a few words, how to practice and you might say, “ Well, of course, anyone would know that.” The problem is, knowing and doing it two different things. I like to ask a new player, “What are you hoping to song or melody are you hoping to learn to play?” For me, this way of learning an instrument is a lot more fun than playing scales and arpeggios for years, in hopes to someday being able I to play some of the stuff really want.
