Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I let the student take control of there own game. Years ago when I took my first lesson , my pro worked with me and didn't Change my natural swing , he torked it and changed some simple mechanics and I thrived from that point on! However I can teach anymore the textbook swing and mechanics but if you can name two golfers that swing exactly alike then that would be something ! I look at what you do well and build from that so you start with a strong foundation!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I played in junior high, high school, and college competitely, I passed my Players Abilty Test at Monroe CC with a 36 hole score of 70/74!! I've also worked with hundreds of students over the past 20 years. I've had students of all genders and handicaps ranging in age from 4 years old to 75 years old. I teach group sessions, family sessions, and couples sessions!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Sense I'm Fully aware that not all teacher/students are a fit and not all coaches can teach So I'm the only coach who offers a money back guarantee!!I've been taught over the years many different ways and styles to play! I teach everything from putting , to chipping to driving and I have a standard rate of 95 and hour, and I have a proven five lesson package for 400$ where I teach you everything about hitting your driver , crushing your fairway metals and long irons ,all the way to short iron and sand play , finally the most important part of golf , chipping and putting !
How did you get started teaching?
I got started teaching because of my passion for golf and about 24 years ago after playing with a guy in Las Vegas and giving him some simple tips he offered to pay me , and wihin 6 months I knocked a full 10 strokes off his handicap!!! I also have had a club in my hand sense I could walk and I've also passed the PGA players ability test which is the test you take that begins the process of becoming a certified PGA teaching professional which is a 36 hole test, playing PGA rules in one day and shooting below a target number of 150 total strokes. My score was 74/70! Nothing makes me happier than passing on my knowledge of this awesome but challenging game that we all love!!
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with kids as young as 3 and adults as old as 75 from beginners to scratch golfers. Everyone can use a coach sometimes ! I worked with numerous college players ,high school and middle school players, golfers of all ages and skill levels. I've personally coached over 25 students that have gone on to complete the requirements to become certified teaching professionals!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I just played in the Josh Bush foundation annual golf tourney which raises money for the local youth in Lexington NC and provides equipment for underprivileged kids! I met a lot of professional football players and coaches because I know Josh personallybut the best part was we raised money for the so many kids!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for someone who is patient and accommodating, there isn't one correct way to play golf , there are hundreds of ways to get you the results you are looking for!! The biggest piece of advice I can give anyone is make sure that you find a coach that is patient , a coach that you get along with , and one that can spot any faults in your swing by watching only a few swings. Also a coach needs to be super positive in the every aspect and approach because golf teaches so much more than just playing a game! It teaches honesty , discipline, and responsibility!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What do I need the most help with ? What is causing me to lose the most strokes while I'm playing a round? What are my ultimate goals and what are you " and "I" going to do to get you there?
