About
DREAM CITY Thunder Athletics is our sports department of DREAM COMMUNITY EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT CENTER. DREAM stands for "Desire to Reach Excellence Adds Motivation". CITY stands for "CHRIST INSPIRED TOWARDS YOUTH." THUNDER is just an awesome name with a logo of a "Lion" that represents "Desire and Unbreakable Will."
1. We provide opportunities for all youth to be successful.
2.We, also, provide an outlet for youth. Some youth just need a mentor who he/ she can rely on to be there for them. We teach them purpose, and that's what life is based on purpose.
3. We're partnered with ncsasports.org, and we help provide them that opportunity to excel at the next level. Player development is very important along with being a good teammate / role model, making each other better and having fun in the process.
4. Serving the community and support those with feasible dreams is our main mission. Finding ways to better help our community is something that we strive for everyday. We help other community organzations, events, causes, food banks, schools, churches etc. We teach our youth to be actively involved in the community.
5. We provide an opportunity for play the sport in which they love (via travel teams, camps amd workouts). We, also, encourage academics.
Working with the youth and having the opportunity to be make a difference in someone's life. I love coaching too, and setting up drills. Also, the opportunity to learn from other coaches as well. It's just awesome.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Just getting to know the student and the parent / parents first. Then, I introduce who I am and what DREAM CITY is all about.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 15 years of coaching football, basketball and soccer. I have a Fundamentals of Coaching Certificate (2017) along with a Distinguish Service Award (2009). I have taken the concussion course, and I am certified First Aid & CPR.
I, also, worked for the Lee County Parks and Recreation as a gym and field supervisor along with the Lee County Schools as a Bus Driver.
I was an Assistant Football and Basketball at Southern Lee High School from July 2005 to June 2012. I was Kicking Coach at Southern Lee High School as well which Richard McCollum is a place / field goal kicker for Western Carolina University.
I coached Upward Soccer in Spring 2009 season (7-0-2). That was my first time coaching soccer ever. Since then, I have been an Assistant Coach at Grace Christian under Coach Tim Blogett and one of the Indoor Soccer Coaches at the San Lee Soccer Academy. I'm The Current Head Boys and Girls Soccer Coach at Ascend Leadership Academy.

How did you get started teaching?
Growing up had mentors who helped along the way. Also, I learned from a lot of great coaches also like, Coach Larry Goins (Basketball and Football), Ken Miller (Basketball), Reggie Peace (Basketball), Gaston Collins (Basketball), Chris Palme Sr (Soccer), Tim Bloggett (Soccer), Keith Frye (Soccer), Tom Paris (Football), Bill Maczko (Football), Coach Puryear (Football), Ken Neil (Football), Nate Woodruff (Football), Travis Seymour (Baseball), Jefferey Maddox (Softball), Ben Lucas (Parks and Recreation), Larry Fedora (Football) and Dr Jett (Athletic Director), etc.
What types of students have you worked with?
Youth of all ages (including students with exceptional needs).
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Actually, it happened 3 weeks ago in a Virtual Sports Banquet and 2 of my soccer players (Boys and Girls) were selected as The Academic Scholar Athlete of the year! I couldn't have been any prouder than of that feat. We had a great year, but I emphasized all year about winning in the classroom first before Academics.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Be the student of the game. Come ready to learn, work and have fun. Come with the mindset of a champion (working and finding ways to get better). Come with short term and longterm goals. Life is about having something to strive for. Having a purpose. Live on purpose, for a purpose, with a purpose. Come with a sense of purpose.
