About

I taylor the learning experience to the student, everyone is different and has different needs, wants, goals, and desires. It is extremely important to me that no matter what skill I am teaching, the student and I are on the same page about where they want to end up.

For a casual student who simply wants to develop themselves in a gradual enjoyable way and enrich their lives through finding a new hobby, there is no point creating a program that teaches them to be world class and vice versa.

What I love most about teaching is seeing others find a passion that I share and helping them to fall in love with the process of getting better. We never get to a point where there is nothing left to learn, so falling in love with the process of learning is the surest way to a full life of growth and happiness.

    Frequently asked questions

The first thing I do is to have an interview.  I want to know what the students goals are.  Are they looking to have fun and play for themselves?  Or do they want to take things a bit more seriously and become a professional one day?  Both paths are fine but it's important to know where we want to end up.

Once we have established some goals, we can move on to creating a custom lesson plan for the student so they can get the most out of their time with me.

    Music

I was clasically trained on violin from the age of 4 until 12, at 12 years old I picked up the viola and was classically trained in this as well.  When i turned 17, I picked up one of my stepfathers guitars.  Both my parents are professional Jazz musicians.  Once I started down the guitar road I never looked back.  I have been playing guitar for 12 years.  Have performed on several stages with various acts, and booked gigs for several years.

    Drawing

I can't remember ever not having a pencil in my hand.  It seems like drawing was something I simply always did. Before I could read I was copying drawing books.  At the age of 8 I was accepted to the art institute based on a drawing my mother sent in for me.  She informed them after my acceptance that I was 8 years old and so had some time to go before I would be joining them.  I went on to study various forms of cartooning including anime and eventually made my way into the world of realism.  I now commision portraits in graphite and love to teach people how to draw anything and everything their hearts desire.

50$ for a one hour lesson.

I started teaching other kids to do things when I was in middle school.  I had a diverse set of interests including music, art, martial arts, math, and science.  I was a quick study and found that I had an innate ability to put things in multiple ways until I saw the light come on in the other persons eyes.  I was hooked.  I started making money teaching people the art of learning new skills in college and have not stopped teaching people since.

    children, young adults, adults.

Ask lots of questions.  The sign of a good teacher is encouraging curiosity.  If you find a teacher that wont answer your questions, or won't admit when they don't know something, run.

The most important questions someone needs to ask themselves before learning a new skill are:

    1. Why do I want to learn it?

    2. Where do I want to end up?

    3. How much time do I realistically have to devote?
