Welcome! I started drawing portraits in 5th grade, primarily using pencil because I appreciate the contrast of dark and light tones. Later on, I became skilled in using charcoal, which offers a different style that enhances the appearance of portraits. Since 2014, I have been teaching portrait drawing to students ranging from 10 years old to adults, focusing especially on beginners. I've taught at local community centers in Apex, NC, and Holly Springs, NC, as well as online through one-on-one sessions and group classes. I am passionate about teaching art, especially kids and curious learners. I modify my teaching strategy as per the students' pace and comfort. I aim to raise the students' interest level in art and build their skills further. I love to connect science to art by helping students understand the details and facts associated with their work. I like to inspire them to enhance their skills by using their imagination and various learnings in their work.

I’ve been painting for 50 years. My mother was a painter, as was my grandmother. BFA in fine arts from Kent State University. Studied School of Visual Arts in New York with John Parks.
