About
I’m James! I’m from Cleveland, Ohio, now living in NYC and I am a professional actor and part time music teacher. I teach beginner acting, beginner acoustic guitar and beginner music theory classes but I also offer intermediate classes in acting for musical theatre and intermediate acoustic guitar.
Ive spent the last 20 years of my life loving music and theatre and have studied both for the last 11 years. I believe my passion for the subjects come across in my lessons resulting in a much deeper understanding of what we both love and wish to know more about!
Guitar students must have their own guitar (acoustic or electric) to play on their own time.
Are you kidding? Passing on the love of music or acting to someone else? Watching their eyes light up the way mine did as a youbg lad? Seeing a student finally play through the chorus of their favorite song or another student realize how writing a song is just a simple I-V-I formula or another student FINALLY understand what all their acting teachers were talking about!
There is truly nothing like it.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We'd start by figuring out what the student already knows! Even if the subject is truly brand-new to him or her, we have plenty to go on. We'd simply find the student's favorite musical, play, band or song and tear it apart. Why do we love it so much? Let's find out.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been studying guitar, acting and music theory for over a decade. I began all three in high school, attended Baldwin Wallace University and continued my studies. I graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Music Theatre in 2013 and have since continued work to better myself in all subjects.
