Min Jung K. says, "Cristina is wonderful! It has been a month since my 7-year-old son started violin with Cristina. Honestly, I was worried that my son would not follow Cristina well because he is not easy to handle. However, contrary to my expectations, he is learning the violin beautifully and has started practicing obediently. I think my child likes Cristina because she explains things carefully and easily, and she treats my child kindly and gently. She always spends enough time with my son. Lucky to find Cristina!" Hello all! Thank you for your interest in studying with me. I am a conservatory trained jazz guitarist currently residing in NYC, where I perform regularly as a sideman in the city's jazz scene, as well as in the pop/rock scene. Education is one of the most beautiful and essential components of being a well-rounded musician: It is our duty as musicians to take the skills we've developed and pass them on to the next generation, supporting them and giving them the courage to develop themselves, no matter what level. Because of this passion, I always carve out time to take on students of all ages, skill levels, and backgrounds! Here are some

Sarah A. says, "Brian was an absolute DREAM to work with. They’ve known about my struggles as a vocalist and took into consideration my past, present, AND future when working with me, which is surprisingly hard to find when searching for a voice teacher. Brian knew exactly when, where, and how to push me to achieve the most beautiful, pure tone possible. I was making sounds that I was PROUD of and was so excited to continue trying something new during our lessons. They made sure I not only was pleased with my sound, but that I was excited about what I was doing. I walked away from our lesson happier and more fulfilled with my vocal progress than I had in a long time, and that is something I simply cannot put a price on. Thank you, Brian!" Read more

I teach not just the violin but music. I provide context. I teach some music theory and music history. I think it helps to understand what you are playing and where it came from. I have degrees in composition and music theory as well as undergraduate degrees in economics and philosophy. Also, I really emphasize sound. I think it's so important whether you're learning the violin at 6 or 60. Sound is so magical; it surrounds and stimulates us. You can feel the violin vibrate when you play it! I love the challenge of figuring out what will help different types of people understand the music and learn the instrument. Teaching both kids and adults...

I started taking piano lessons this past year as a gift from my musically talented mother, and found Cristina through research online. For the months that I took lessons with her she was incredibly talented, patient, kind and understanding when I wasn't getting certain notes. I couldn't recommend her enough whether you are beginning or advanced. Sadly I am moving away from NY so won't be able to continue lessons with her, but if you are looking for lessons.

All the lessons were well taught with high confidence and understanding. Jenna is a great singer and that shows in her lessons, and that is really inspiring. On top of that she is one of the nicest people you'll meet and it really makes it easy to be vulnerable so that all your little problems can be addressed.

Brian is so knowledgable and has really helped me understand the apparatus. Brian is so excellent at listening and responding and offering strategies for moving through the complex operation of singing. A great voice teacher!

Ever since I was a little kid I admired classical piano, due to unfortunate turnover of circumstances I was unable to pursue my dreams and embark on this journey as a child. Eventually I tried to break into the world by self-learning practice, mostly by listening to music and copying without sight reading which I couldn’t do. Once I felt confident enough, I decided to apply for local teachers, I saw about dozens of teachers that shut doors right to my face saying it was far too late to get serious about music in the late puberty. Then I was recommended to Tazo’s studio by my friend. Although Tazo admired work I pulled off myself, he strongly believed as everyone else that it would mean nothing if I did not forget everything and start from scratch, unlike those old school teachers I’ve encountered who couldn’t see that the seed can only thrive nurtured not placed in a cast of shadows. Tazo gave me an actual plan, challenged me, worked with me diligently and in less than a year I could sight-read swiftly. After 3 years I’m performing not only Chopin which I admired, but also Rachmaninoff even Liszt. Tazo has unique and very down to earth approach that made me fall in love with music even more than I ever was. Undoubtedly inspiring performer himself, he has made hard techniques easy to grasp, and expression of music easy to understand for me. I highly recommend Tazo’s studio to anyone who wants to learn classical piano, and not just to learn but grow!

John is an esteemed musician with plenty of high-level concerts and recordings throughout his career, and an amazing teacher on top of that. I took lessons with him for 6 years, and during that time he consistently tailored his teaching to suit my level and help me grow. He balances encouragement with guidance for improvement. And his vast knowledge of music history and theory brings the music on the page to life. He's helped musicians of all levels improve, and makes lessons fun in the process.
