I teach not just the violin but music. I provide context. I teach some music theory and music history. I think it helps to understand what you are playing and where it came from. I have degrees in composition and music theory as well as undergraduate degrees in economics and philosophy. Also, I really emphasize sound. I think it's so important whether you're learning the violin at 6 or 60. Sound is so magical; it surrounds and stimulates us. You can feel the violin vibrate when you play it! I am a professional musician in New York City and have been teaching for nearly a decade. I have a masters degree from Manhattan School of Music in jazz performance, and have played at many storied venues including Smalls, Nublu, and The Hugh.
