To all fellow students and athletes My name is Ken and I am a former professional baseball at the independent level. I have played a season in Japan, and three seasons in the United States. I have been teaching young athletes the game of baseball for the past three years in different organizations in New York City. Baseball and athletics are my passion and I have been truly blessed to continue to meet teammates and young players all these years. My specialty is pitching and athletic development, as I have thrown 93mph when I was playing. I understand the journey of what it takes to be a successful athlete and I want to teach young athletes

I am a former high level baseball player with a wealth of knowledge in the field. I’ve played for numerous former professional players such as John Franco, Frankie Rodriguez, Edgardo Alfonso, Reid and Ryan Gorecki, amongst others. I’ve played in numerous scouting leagues such as the former New York City Varsity League, where I played for numerous professional scouts and D1 colleges. This league operated out of MCU Park, home of the Mets minor league affiliate team The Brooklyn Cyclones. I’ve also played at Yankee Stadium for my PSAL High School city championship. Your Baseball Training questions, answered

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Lessons.com.

How much do private baseball lessons cost?

Private baseball lessons cost $50 to $75 per 30-minute lesson and $80 to $140 per 1-hour lesson. The price depends on your location, the instructor's experience and reputation, the student's age, and whether the lesson includes extras like a video analysis of the player's performance.

Many coaches offer lower prices per lesson if you purchase a package that includes 6 or 10 lessons. The average package prices are:

  • 6 pack of 30-minute lessons: $270 – $420
  • 6 pack of 1-hour lessons: $450 – $720
  • 10 pack of 30-minute lessons: $400 – $600
  • 10 pack of 1-hour lessons: $700 – $1,100

Are private baseball lessons worth it?

Private baseball lessons may be worth it if your child currently plays the sport, loves it, and has expressed an interest in improving their skills and performance. Private lessons can help your child advance their skills, develop good habits, and avoid forming bad habits.

Motivation and a drive to improve are key factors in whether or not the lessons will actually help your child. It's important for your child to practice in between private lessons.

Children who receive private baseball lessons are usually more likely to advance to playing at higher levels than children who only receive group coaching during regular team practice. However private lessons don't guarantee your child will play collegiate or professional baseball.

What is the difference between private and semi-private baseball lessons?

In a private baseball lesson, the athlete trains one-on-one with an instructor who tailors the lesson specifically to their needs and skill level. In a semi-private lesson, two athletes work together with one instructor. Semi-private lessons, also called partner lessons, typically cost 10% to 20% less than private lessons. However, because the trainer's attention is divided between the two athletes, the athletes don't get the same level of individualized instruction as they would in a private lesson.

What age should you start pitching lessons?

Baseball instructors generally recommend that children start pitching lessons at around 8 to 12 years old, though there are no age requirements or exact rules. Learning fundamental pitching skills early on can help your child avoid developing bad habits that will be difficult for them to break later.

However, your child should not start taking pitching lessons until they are comfortable throwing the ball as well as catching the ball one-handed.

Josh is definitely a trainer who cares about your son or daughter. His attention to detail, personality, and knowledge are second to none! My son has been training with him for over two years (he started when he was 6) and we have seen a big improvement in his game. he’s a great person as well, and truly cares about your child.
