Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My process for working with a new student is to listen. Not only to what is being said but, for what is left unsaid. I also listen for the intention of the tone of their voice. Our initial consutlation is usually handled over the phone. The initial consultation is FREE and includes an assessment of goals, needs and a brief discussion about vocal health with take away excsercises / techniques (includes FREE audio lessons). All Lessons are held in person or over the internet on any major video conference platform.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
With over 20 years of experience as a Professional Vocalist, I have been a Vocal Student and Peer Coach for just as long. I have studied Ken Tamplin, Roger Burnley and Eric Arceneuax. My current Instructor is Gordon Chambers. I have managed to parlay my many years of vocal instruction, combined with a self education in Vocal Science and Vocal Health, into a system with 3 core principles. I'd love to teach them to you.

How did you get started teaching?
I have been a vocal student for the past 20 years. Over time I have been using what I'd learned from my instructors while developing specific practices to benefit my singing family and friends. I am a vocal student of Gordon Chambers, Grammy winning Singer/Songwriter/Vocal Coach. Many Vocalists I love, fans, family, as well as aspiring singers and vocalists have benefitted from the techniques, behaviors and my approach to vocal health from a scientific, physiological approach. It has taken the last 5 years to perfect these practices.
You will learn:
* The 3 components of a remarkable Vocal
* Effective Techniques and Exercises uniquely designed and tailored to your vocal styling (any age / any styling).

What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with students of all ages, stylings and experience levels from beginner to professional.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I am truly fond of my student, Shariece's, confidence and increased power in the chest voice with-in 1 week of following my step by step behaviors, practices and techniques. The growth was gradual and healthily attained.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Do some research. Check credentials and cross references.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I think students should ask themselves what their goals are. It's very important for every student to be able to express their thoughts and experiences. Therefore, ask your self, "What do I think about this field I've decided to study." I always strive to balance this with plenty of opportunities for students to make sense of and apply new information using their schemata and understanding. Ask yourself, "Why do I think this?" This will allow you to always provide reasoning for your thinking. Another question is, "How do I know this?" When this question is asked, you will make connections to your ideas and thoughts with things you've experienced, read, and have seen. An excellent question to ask of an instructor is, "Can you tell me more?" This question can inspire you to extend your thinking and share further evidence for your ideas. Finally, "were all of my questions asked and answered?" This allows you to offer up remaining questions you may have.
