Mike is an awesome guitar teacher! I have been playing guitar for 17 years and am a singer-songwriter in my spare time. When I first began lessons with Mike in May 2021, I knew basic open chords and was able to write songs using them, but wanted to improve my technical skills and understanding of music theory/guitar concepts. Mike started out reviewing basics and had me memorize open chords and scales. We then went onto topics that were new to me, such as modes and barre chords. Mike’s teaching style is directive and methodical, while also maintaining a laid back/casual vibe. He is always patient/encouraging and leaves me feeling excited to practice!
Recently, I decided to record an album of my original songs. Mike and I decided to focus on this project for several months and he acted as a mentor to me. His guidance has made something that at first seemed like a daunting undertaking feel manageable and fun.
I would definitely recommend Mike for anyone looking to learn guitar or improve their guitar skills!
