About
I've been dancing since the age of three, I've been taught various styles of dance such as ballet, modern, jazz, tap, hip hop & African. I've been teaching dance for about two years now. I love teaching hip hop and heels because I like to be the reason my students become more passionate and better about their craft. I got my start teaching dance at an upcoming dance studio in Queens where I taught ballet & jazz for Tiny Tots, hip hop classes for the Emeralds & Sapphires and also led intense stretching and flexibility classes. I'm currently a teacher at a charter school in the Brooklyn called Explore.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
• Warm-Up: The purpose of a warm-up is to get the body warmed up before dancing so students aren't prone to any injuries during class.
• Choreography: I will always start off with basic choreography to see where the student is. Based on how well they execute the dance moves and how much they can remember, the choreography will gradually become more challenging initially building up their skills.
• Cool Down: The purpose of a cool down is for my students to feel relax and calm before leaving practice. It puts the body and mind at ease and you leave our private lesson feeling confident!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Depending on the students needs, traveling and/or studio space I charge between my clients anywhere between $50-$75 an hour for my private lessons.
How did you get started teaching?
I got started teaching dance a few years ago at a small dance studio in Queens. I started off there as a Teacher's Assistant where I assisted with our national competition team. Also, I led Tiny Tots Ballet & jazz and led hip hop for the Emeralds and Sapphires.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with students ranging from 3 years old to 40 years old.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
One of my most recent events I'm highly fond of was teaching an all beginner hip hop class through ClassPass. Almost all of my students had little to no dance experience and being able to teach them and them give me awesome 5 star reviews because of my upbeat personality and enthusiasm meant a lot to me. The purpose of me teaching beginner hip hop to give hope and opportunity to the individuals who have none. I love to see my students happy to finally get a move they've struggled with or accomplish a move that might have been challenging for them. There's a short clip of them dancing on my Instagram (which is public): @yoncee.2
