About
With over 20 years experience teaching languages in both middle and high school settings, I have many excellent resources and strategies to help my students learn French, Spanish, Italian and Latin.
Because I have a passion for languages, I strive to use them as much as possible. Tutoring students is one way for me to share this passion while keeping my own language skills alive and up to date.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I prefer to tutor online using Zoom. I start by diagnosing a student's existing skill level in the language by working with the language in various ways, then together we design a plan to fulfill the goals that the student has in mind.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
B.A. in French with a minor in Classical Languages
M.S. in Secondary Education 7-12
I have studied 7 languages, most notably French, Spanish, Italian and Latin, and have the expertise and proficiency in these languages to teach/tutor them.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Zoom lessons are priced at $75/hour.
How did you get started teaching?
The Katonah-Lewisboro School District hired me in 2001 as a Latin teacher, then added French and Spanish.
What types of students have you worked with?
Elementary, middle and high school students, college-age students and other adults interested in learning languages.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I took my two grandsons, ages 3 and 4, to an amusement park with my husband. They delighted in going on all the rides, playing on the animal sculptures and eating some fun foods. The next day we went fishing in a local pond, joined by our 5 year old granddaughter. They all caught at least one fish! Fun times.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Be sure the teacher listens to your goals. Be clear about your goals so he or she can give you the best teaching experience. Ask them if they have resources to share in the areas of listening, speaking, reading and writing so that you can enjoy a total language learning experience.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What am I looking to accomplish by engaging in this learning experience?
How much time will I be able to devote to homework and practice outside of our one-hour lessons?
How willing am I to take the plunge and speak the language with my teacher?
