Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I talk with them, and get to be friends: I will already have some potential moves in mind for them, just by having emailed with them or spoken to them about the music they want to dance to.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a lifetime since age 4 doing nothing but dancing and traveling and working in dance all over the world.
My years as a Broaday dancer began at age 14, and my Hollywood years began with teaching Liza Minnelli and doing shows with her at 19. I have never stopped. I teach or else have taught in the past in all styles of dance of USA and over the world, everything anyone can mention..
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My price on this venue is lower than my website pricing. The website price is higher than what I use for this venue so people can feel they are not being overcharged at NYC prices. My base is $50 an hour here in this venue, but it is $100 on my website.
If people feel they can afford my website price, I will accept it, naturally, but I am content to charge less here, since I teach in Hoboken, not NYC, for this venue.
How did you get started teaching?
Started at 23, owning my own school, The Tracy Everitt School of Dance, for 30 years, a big success.
What types of students have you worked with?
From first day beginners to top most pros. I love all levels equally.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I particularly enjoyed seeing "An American In Paris", the new musical show at the Palace, last year, in NYC.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look at the testimonials on the website.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
The music they want. The rest is up to me.
