In the lead up to our wedding we realized that while we wanted to enjoy a first dance neither of us had any experience in ballroom dancing. On top of that my dad wanted to start the dance with me and hand me over to my husband as the music continued to a very specific piece of music, the Blue Danube Waltz (which luckily I love too) - but the bar was now set! STEP IN TRACY. There could not have been a more kind and skilled professional to teach us. With the view from where he teaches the private lessons and his endless strive to make this dance perfect for us as well as his humor we were looking forward to each session and proudly shared our video with Tracy after the wedding. We got so many compliments for the dance! I so recommend Tracy and his private lessons and the package option worked great for us!

My fiancé (now husband) and I were nervous about what we would do for our first dance at our wedding. My fiancé had never danced before and had no idea what to do. We didn't want to have that "typical" awkward first dance in front of all of our family and friends. Even more challenging was our timeline; we pushed our wedding date up and only had a few months to figure out what we would do for our dance. We found Tracy and he saved the day! Not only did he fit us into his schedule last minute, but through his expert teaching skills and choreography he had us dancing and looking good after just one session! He was wonderful working with my husband (who had no prior experience) by explaining to him how to dance through sports analogies. After only a handful of lessons we had a choreographed dance that made us both look amazing and that we both felt great doing. Not only did he take away all of our anxieties about our first dance, he gave us both confidence and we had a lot of fun. His teaching technique was outstanding, and thanks to Tracy, we still enjoy dancing together today (which we would never had thought could happen before our lessons). Thank you Tracy! We are truly grateful to have had a the opportunity to work with you!

Tracy Everitt is an inspiring and energetic teacher! I hosted a Swing Dance party and all the guests throughly enjoyed learned and laughed. He is an excellent dancer and a warm easy going teacher. I recommend Tracy without any reservations! Be prepared to learn how to dance and have fun!

Studying tap dancing under Tracy Everett taught me so much more than tapping. He enabled me to respond to the music in ways that allowed me to express in the dance what the music was offering.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I talk with them, and get to be friends: I will already have some potential moves in mind for them, just by having emailed with them or spoken to them about the music they want to dance to.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a lifetime since age 4 doing nothing but dancing and traveling and working in dance all over the world.
My years as a Broaday dancer began at age 14, and my Hollywood years began with teaching Liza Minnelli and doing shows with her at 19. I have never stopped. I teach or else have taught in the past in all styles of dance of USA and over the world, everything anyone can mention..

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

My price on this venue is lower than my website pricing. The website price is higher than what I use for this venue so people can feel they are not being overcharged at NYC prices. My base is $50 an hour here in this venue, but it is $100 on my website.
If people feel they can afford my website price, I will accept it, naturally, but I am content to charge less here, since I teach in Hoboken, not NYC, for this venue.

How did you get started teaching?

Started at 23, owning my own school, The Tracy Everitt School of Dance, for 30 years, a big success.

What types of students have you worked with?

From first day beginners to top most pros. I love all levels equally.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I particularly enjoyed seeing "An American In Paris", the new musical show at the Palace, last year, in NYC.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Look at the  testimonials on the website.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

The music they want. The rest is up to me.
