"John's keen desire to be one of the best teachers in America is not only very evident, but he takes active steps to make it happen. He is very bright and has studied under most every top instructor in golf. His position for several years as the head of the golf schools for Golf Digest put him in a unique position to observe and learn from the game's finest teachers. He has a complete understanding of technique, but more importantly, understands that there is more than one way to swing a golf club. He has the very rare gift of being able to help anyone who walks through his door. Beyond his technique and skills, John is a born teacher in that he can communicate and he cares about people. He is the kind of warm, gentle and gracious man that people enjoy associating with."

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I will first determine what the person's goals are in both the short term (3-6 months) and the long term (6-18 months). I will then assess the the person's game and create a plan to achieve the desired goals.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Senior Certified Instructor in AimPoint Green Reading; Blast Certified and SAM Puttlab certified in technology. Previous Director of Golf Digest Schools with decades of teaching experience. Golf Digest and Golf Magazine Best in State and Best id Northeast Region.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

I offer individual lessons and packages which are available to all students and provide students with extreme flexibility in booking their lessons.

How did you get started teaching?

I began teaching during my PGA Aprrenticeship. I found teaching to be the most interesdting facet of the golf industry  and have always been fascinated with the learning process.

What types of students have you worked with?

My roster of students includes children, women and men of all aability levels. From beginners to professional players I have a wide range of talent levels that I work with.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I was at the PGA Championship at Baltusrol and had the opportunity to worjk with a few tour caddies with both AimPoint and then with the players on their putting.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Understand the process of learning and the time it takes to create changes in patterns of motor behavior. As a RH person if oyu attemted to do things LH this would be an example of a different pattern of motor behavior.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

Students should decide on what it is they they want to achieve in both the short term and the long term and then put together a plan that will reach their goals.
