Hello! I am offering private piano lesson in Pickerington, OH. I am a classically trained pianist. I began lessons at the age of 4 with Mrs. Coralie Runyon Jones of Maysville, KY before moving onto Professor Sergei Polusmiak when I was twelve years old. I also studied under Dr. Michael Coonrod of Interlochen Center for the arts during various summer programs. Please message with questions, availability, and pricing information. My current focus is on getting little ones started early on the piano. I follow the Bastien piano books followed by Suzuki pending the student's progress. I am a classically trained Opera singer. I have been teaching for 20 years. My students have come from all backgrounds of musical genres and all ages. My specialty is helping students develop good singing habits and become comfortable performing in the style they prefer. I encourage the student to bring in their choice of music as well as offering music in which I am familiar to teach them proper technique but not force them into a certain singing style. I love to help my students learn how to use their voices and develop confidence in singing what makes them happy....

Learning to play an instrument involves practicing. Wow, what a stupid sounding statement. Practicing is only marginally profitable unless you know “how” to practice. I could tell you right here, in a few words, how to practice and you might say, “ Well, of course, anyone would know that.” The problem is, knowing and doing it two different things. I like to ask a new player, “What are you hoping to song or melody are you hoping to learn to play?” For me, this way of learning an instrument is a lot more fun than playing scales and arpeggios for years, in hopes to someday being able I to play some of the stuff really want. If this sounds

I am a USAF Veteran, Former Paralegal and Berklee College of Music Graduate. I encourage each student to choose a peice of music that is just for fun. I choose the others to teach specific skills. Then I use the chosen peice to get you playing right away. This is also a great way to begin to learn to read and recognize music notation. My teaching style is relaxed and contemporary. I believe that learning music should ALWAYS be fun. No matter what skill level you are at. "Music is not work, music is play". - Joss Stone I do not use the word "practice" when asking a student to begin learning a new song or continue to a new part of a song. ...

How long must you take piano lessons to play classical?

How do I find the best classical piano lessons near me?

Find classical piano lessons from private instructors by looking through the listings here on the Lessons website. Local music schools sometimes offer virtual lessons online as well.

Prior to hiring a local piano instructor, you should always:

What question do I ask when choosing classical piano lessons?

When you're searching for a piano teacher, be sure to ask these questions:

  • How many years have you been teaching piano?
  • What is your formal music education background?
  • Which classical music composers are your favorites?
  • What is the typical age range of your students?
  • Do you offer a trial lesson, either for free or at a discounted rate?
  • If I don't have a piano, what type of keyboard should I get for practicing?
  • How much practice should I be doing outside of our lessons?
  • What textbooks do I need, and what's their cost?
  • Do you give assignments or pieces to memorize after each lesson?
  • Can you adapt your teaching style based on the individual student's needs?
  • What should I bring with me to our lessons?
  • How many different piano genres and styles can you teach?
  • Can I get a written copy of our agreement and the payment terms?
  • What is your policy for cancelling a lesson?
  • Will I be able to choose some of my own favorite songs to learn?

Holly's teaching technique makes learning how to read music easier, and she introduces practice techniques at an early age which feel more like games than practice. Holly is professional and caring, and provided excellent teaching from elementary school to preparing my daughter for college entrance auditions. Now my daughter also teaches piano!

My children have taken piano from the Music Palette since it opened several years ago, and before that my son took private lessons from the owner, Jessica Heitmeyer. The teachers and staff at Music Palette are excellent--wonderful musicians, and very responsive to all of their students' questions and needs. There are a number of programs that Music Palette offers beyond just lessons. I have really enjoyed seeing my children thrive and develop their piano skills in such a supportive environment. I highly recommend the studio if you or your child is interested in music lessons!

We have known Dr. Sansbury for many years. When my older son was 7 years old, his piano teacher moved to another state. She recommended Dr. Sansbury to us. Now my older son is 14 years old. My younger son started his piano lesson with her when he was 5 years old and he is 9 now. She only raised the tuition one time during so many years. She can taught very advanced level piano. On the other hand, she is very patient with little kids too. My kids like her and they are very comfortable to ask questions if they have any. She also recommended different piano performance activities to them and let them choose what they like to get involved in. As a parent, I feel I may freely communicate with her about any issue.
