I've been a professional musician since I was 14: whether it was rock, jazz, R&B, latin, reggae, hip hop, country, gospel, or even showtunes, the answer was always "yes!" This versatility has helped me develop a holistic approach to music, which allows me to go into any musical situation with confidence and poise- and I can share that with students. Yes, "notes" and "technique" are important. We could even say that they're the two biggest building blocks, but there's so much more to sounding good that's rarely taught in school or on YouTube. My goal is to show my students not just how to play an instrument, but how to get in the mindset ... View Profile

My teaching approach: My lessons are one hour lessons. Although I teach folks how to play a guitar, I highly recommend that all of my students have a piano, organ, or some sort of keyboard . If you have no keyboard available at the moment you can usually purchase  small battery-powered keyboard at a Salvation Army or Goodwill store for $15-25. A keyboard is the best tool in the world to lear to understand music, and translating what one learns using a keyboard to the guitar is  much easier than learningmusic on a guitar. regaerdless of the instrument one plays, one is always a musician first, an instrumentalist or vocalist second. I am a self taught multi instrumentalist and songwriter. I've been lucky enough to follow my creative impulses wherever they lead me for the past 16 years, and focus on building curriculum tailored to each student to help them do the same.   I recieved my bachelor's degree in Human Deveopment and Family Sciences from The Ohio State University, with a focus on middle school math and science education. Spent my early adulthood working in afterschool programs and one on one special needs education, while actively writing and performing in several bands. I have been working in music retail, doing acoustic and electric guitar repairs and ... View Profile
