My private lesson teaching has been contiuous for over 20 years now. Integrated with the traditional styles is a foundation in music theory, the key to the kingdom for ear playing and composition.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Jazz Composition and a Master's Degree in Classical Guitar Performance. I have nearly 35 years of teaching experience. I enjoy instructing enthusiastic students using the many skills I have developed through the years. Seeing students improve is a real thrill for me. I help students by developing a keen awareness of their musical interests and showing them that the solutions are not reserved for a special few but that anyone with the determination, knowledge and desire can make real headway. I have a special talent for demystifying concepts and showing exactly how one can achieve....

I've been teaching privately for over 15 years. I take students of all ages and skill levels. I focus on getting my students to play familiar songs and also teach them to read music. I cover folk, rock, classical and more. Over the years, I have developed my own method that I tailor to each individual person I work with. Nothing makes me happier than helping people meet their musical goals :-)

Learning to play an instrument involves practicing. Wow, what a stupid sounding statement. Practicing is only marginally profitable unless you know “how” to practice. I could tell you right here, in a few words, how to practice and you might say, “ Well, of course, anyone would know that.” The problem is, knowing and doing it two different things. I like to ask a new player, “What are you hoping to song or melody are you hoping to learn to play?” For me, this way of learning an instrument is a lot more fun than playing scales and arpeggios for years, in hopes to someday being able I to play some of the stuff really want.
