About
I have been playing golf 54 years and played high school, college and professional golf. Although the fundamentals are the same everyone is different physically and mentally and a knowledgeable instructor instructs the student on an individual basis and doesn't rush the student.
Golf in my opinion is the most unique of sports. You can play by yourself or a group. You can start golfing at 3 years and play till you are 100. Every golf course is different and it can never be mastered. But the diversity of people you meet and the longterm friendships you form plus the exercise and conditioning in a beautiful environment unique only to the greatest game. I became a golf course architect and even met my wife of 30 years playing golf. I feel I have a vast knowledge to pass on to others.I only hope you get out of it,what I did.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First and foremost I begin w/ a conversation to determine what the students goal and expectations are. This is most important and determines the process and practice plan we develop. This can be done over the phone but I prefer in person . I need to know what physical condition the student is in. Are they a technical type personality, visual or feel type ,etc. You (the instructor)must communicate to a student on their level, not mine. From there I can develop a plan or process. As i state everyone is different ,and learns at a diifferent way and timeline. But the first lesson ,for either beginner or pro is w/ the 5 fundamentals. I will explain more when we talk or meet.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I started golfing at 8 and still practice and play at 61.As I stated earlier I've played high school, college and professional golf and have had some of the best PGA teachers. I played or practiced everyday for 23 years(unless traveling, weather,or war prevented it) and I honestlly believe I know the golf swing and golf as well as any should know! lol.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Be honest about about your golfing background/experience ,and tell them exactly what your goals or expectations are.
If you played golf one time or never and want to play in a month w/ your boss who is a good golfer and don't want to embarrass yourself or you want to "beat" him ,well that isn't going to happen.
Be truthful and realistic.
