Golf Instruction is my passion. Once a clear plan of development has been outlined, we will start the process of development using the correct training aids, incorporating drills with continued video feebdack.

The City of Austin owns six golf courses and one short practice course, all focused on providing good golf and tuition opportunities at an affordable price.
The oldest course in the city is also one of the oldest golf courses in Texas. Hancock Golf Course was originally laid out as part of Austin Country Club in 1899, and half a century later was renamed in honor of Lewis Hancock, who had been mayor of Austin from 1895 to 1897.
Hancock is relatively short by modern standards, with nine holes, but the layout with its small, well-manicured greens offers an interesting insight into golf of that era.
Country club legacy
The course had been renamed because Austin Country Club moved in 1950 to the Riverside area. The club stayed there for 35 years and has left another golfing legacy, Riverside Golf Club, an 18-hole course that is open to the public. Only five minutes from downtown Austin, this is a mature course in the city center.
Austin Country Club finally settled in the Davenport Ranch district, on the shore of Lake Austin, where there is a very fine 18-hole course that is open to the public and is famous for its deep bunkers, canyons, ravines, creeks, and gorgeous views.
Lions Municipal Golf Course has for a long time been one of the city’s most popular courses, having originally been built for the Lions Club in 1928, and it attracts some 100,000 players during the year. Crammed into a small area packed with oaks and cedars, the course is famous for its doglegs and water features.
Morris Williams Golf classes was opened in nineteen sixty four as Austin’s 3rd municipal lessons, and is named after one of the best players to have ever come out of Austin. Intended by Leon Howard, one of the mainly creative golf course architects of the time, the lesson is affectionately known as Mo Willie and in earlier times served as home for the University of Texas golf teams.
The Jimmy Clay Golf Course was opened in 1974, and is located in southeast Austin. Designed by noted golf architect Joe Finger, the course is flanked by Williamson Creek and features traditional tree-lined fairways with challenging elevated greens.
Twenty years ago the Roy Kizer Golf Course was opened adjacent to Jimmy Clay, forming a complex that makes one of the finest 36-hole public golf facilities in Texas.
Grey Rock Golf Club is also under Parks & Recreation, and is a premier 18-hole facility that although only minutes from downtown has a natural environment that is characterized by enormous oak trees. The Golf Academy here has individual and group tuition, along with regular clinics and junior programs.
A particularly interesting course for beginners is Butler Park Pitch & Putt, a green little nine-hole course that was created out of rough land originally used by the Butler Brick Company. Holes 1 and 2 play down into the bottom of the former clay pit. There is a historic old clubhouse here that was the scene of a murder in 1951, when a cuckolded husband shot the course owner.
