I was born and raised in Mexico. I worked there as a teacher in different levels, from preschool to basic and secondary education. I also have experience working with students at the university in bachelor and masters’ courses.

My students learn to communicate and exchange information with other people in authentic daily life situations. I will be glad to guide you through activities that will help you share and receive information in Spanish, the second most important language in the United States. Spanish is spoken in more countries of the world than any other language.

The learners of a language need to develop strategies that allow them to do the following:

1. use what they already know from their first language

2. identify cognates (words that sound and are spelled similarly in two languages)

3. use the context, body language, gestures, and images

4. make educated guesses

5. become tolerant to frustration for not understanding everything they hear or read.

I arrived to Texas seven years ago. Here, I have taught advanced courses to prepare my students for the AP Exam, which gives them credits for college. I have also taught Spanish 1 and 2 to learners of the language.

Con mucho gusto acompaño a mis alumnos de los cursos avanzados en este viaje cultural para conocer más acerca de las culturas hispanas y para convertirse en usuarios eficientes del español.

En los cursos Avanzados de Español aprenderán a utilizar el idioma español de manera formal, para comunicarse de forma oral y escrita acerca de temas actuales, relacionados con la cultura de los países hispanos. Así mismo, desarrollarán habilidades para hacer comparaciones culturales entre sus comunidades y las comunidades de otros países donde el idioma español es predominante.

Los alumnos de los cursos avanzados de español desarrollarán estrategias que les permitirán utilizar lo que conocen de su primer idioma y aplicarlo al uso correcto y apropiado del español, en actividades académicas que los prepararán para la vida universitaria y el ambiente profesional.

For me, teaching is a great responsibility because it gives me the opportunity to help my students become long-life learners.
