About this pro

Golf Instruction is my passion. I've been teaching the game since 2005 at the highest level, and whether you're a Junior player, beginner, intermediate, skilled or high caliber goal is to analyze your ball flight and swing tendencies using video swing analysis technology, and 25 years as both a former PGA Tour player and now as a professional instructor to help you progress. Once a clear plan of development has been outlined, we will start the process of development using the correct training aids, incorporating drills with continued video feebdack.

Consistent development and improvement can be challenging for students, but those who work hard between lesson sessions tend to do well over time!

I have worked with Juniors, players of all abilities, NCAA college players (current V. Assistants coach with the University of Texas) mini tour professionals, PGA Tour Professionals and Champions Tour professionals.

After playing for several years as a PGA TOUR player, European Tour and started my Instruction career in 2005, then  joined the PGA Tour Academy in 2007 as a staff Instructor.  I started the PGA Tour Academy at TPC San Antonio in 2010 and became Head Teaching professional at the TOUR Academy TPC San Antonio in 2012 while gaining teacher of the year honors in 2014.  I now teach private instruction and I am currently on the coaching staff with the University of Texas mens golf team in Austin, Texas who are #1 in the nation and are  2022 division 1 champions!!!

I guarantee success! ....and it will be FUN!

I really enjoy seeing development and improvement from my coaching and the students work ethic!

There is nothing better than getting feedback from satisfied students who email, text or call, who are excited about their ball striking improvements, or their improved shortgame finally producing lower scores, or they are finally adding some extra yardage through extra speed

Richie obviously knows how to play and teach the game at the highest levels but he is also an excellent instructor for a hacker like me. He explains things in a way that makes me understand what he is trying to get me to accomplish. My swing has improved dramatically after just three lessons.

Very knowlegeable, personable, easy to contact, and make appointments.

I had set an appointment with Richie. Before we could meet, I injured myself, and couldn't participate in the lesson. We spoke for a few minutes and he is very nice , was very understanding and encouraging. I am excited by the prospect of getting better and working with him.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Usually, I will suggest a phone conversation before a lesson.  I will introduce myself and also ask some questions regarding their lesson history, if they have any physical restrictions, and also what the student ultimately wants to achieve from instruction with me.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I’m am PGAtour Academy certified 2007-2016

Extensive experience with V1 swing Analysis and FLIGHSCOPE and TrackMan launch monitors

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

$90 per lesson session. Balls, Training aids and video Swing anlaysis... plus balls to practice with after the lesson if you require.

Multi lesson Package rates are available upon request.

On-course instruction available which I highly recommend if you're a competitive player.

How did you get started teaching?

2005 ...I had missed a year from playing through injury and couldn’t play or practice so I started doing some light lesson work, really liked it and it all developed from there.

What types of students have you worked with?

All ages, all skill levels right up to Touring professional.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Ask questions:

Number of years teaching.

Look for certifications but more importantly qualifications.

Call the instructor and get a feel for their communication style and personality type.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

Students should be realistic based on age, ability and their desire to put in the relavent work for development.

Also share information about lesson history, injuries if any, share equipment information and any concerns over scheduling times etc
