I have been teaching private guitar and bass lessons in my home since the 90s. I have worked as a professional musician since I was 14 years old and have experience playing many, many different styles of music, including rock, pop, blues, jazz, classical, country, R&B, acoustic folk (and other styles). Because of this I am able to meet students where they're at in their development and help to get them playing the music they love. I have taught at two schools, each for seven years: The Rockwall School of Music, and Dallas Academy. I also taught at Larry Morgan Music in Garland for three years until they closed their doors and at The Music St...

Guy C. says, "Joe is a awesome guitar teacher . I started taking lessons from him 5 years ago as an adult with no guitar experience. He guickly got me to where I was able to play songs that you hear on the radio . Joe is very patient and always willing to go that extra step pushing past any hurdles. He has a super wide range of music knowledge and can pretty much play anything. I highly recommend Joe for any level of guitarist whether young or old . " Read more

My teaching approach: I tailor my lessons to fit the students goals. Beginner students want to learn songs, not theory. So I get the student playing /singing before I focus on scales and theory. I want to teach the student what they want to learn as well as giving them the skills to be a good musician/vocalist. I also determine what your learning style is, so that I can effectively teach you. I have over 14 years teaching experience in guitar and voice, and I teach songwriting and ukulele as well. I've been performing locally and internationally for over 7 years. My influences are: The Beatles, the Killers, Patty Griffin, Ray LaMontagne, 50'...

Are bass guitar lessons worth it?

Bass guitar lessons are worth it to master those frets faster so that you can get confident enough to play for others.

A bass guitar teacher understands how to help you:

  • Focus on rhythm to set a solid foundation for other instruments in a band
  • Put less emphasis on chords and more on single notes and scales
  • Master your key genres like jazz, rock, pop, and funk

What age is good to start bass guitar lessons?

You can start bass guitar lessons for kids from the ages of 6 to 10 years old or whenever they can hold the instrument with enough hand strength to press on the strings. Any age is good for adults to start bass guitar with the right assistance and regular practice.

How many bass guitar lessons do I need?

The number of bass guitar lessons you need varies a lot according to what you want to achieve and how hard you practice. You could expect to play a simple song after 2 to 6 months. However, mastering the guitar professionally typically takes 4 to 10 years.

How do I find the best bass guitar lessons near me?

To find the best bass guitar lessons for you, look at the list of teachers nearby on the Lessons website. You might also find guitar lessons at local music stores.

Before choosing a guitar teacher, remember to:

  • Compare prices from 3 different teachers and ask what their lessons cover.
  • Look at what people have said about them on Google and Lessons.
  • Request a list of other students they've taught to check their experience.
  • Ask other parents how their children feel about the teacher.
  • Ensure you have a written schedule and agreement before the first lesson.
  • Pay in small amounts at first to make sure the teacher is right for you before committing to a full month.

What questions do I ask when choosing a bass guitar teacher?

To ensure you choose the best guitar teacher, consider asking these questions:

  • What's your educational background in music?
  • How many years of experience do you have in teaching bass guitar?
  • Do you offer a complimentary initial lesson?
  • What are the typical ages of your students?
  • Which model of bass guitar is best for my practice?
  • Do you know where I can rent equipment?
  • Will you assign finger workout exercises as homework?
  • How frequently should I practice on my own?
  • Which textbooks do I need?
  • How many genres of guitar music can you teach?
  • Can you modify your teaching approach if I'm finding it hard to grasp?
  • What items should I bring to each lesson, and how long does it last?
  • Can I have a written copy of our schedule, contract, and payment details?
  • What is your policy if I have to cancel a lesson suddenly?
  • Can I incorporate my favorite songs into the learning process?

Mr. Dang was the piano teacher for both my kids and they learnt piano from him for at least 10 years each and they loved it. Although school and other activities did not permit them to continue but Mr. Dang's teaching has had a long lasting effect on them. They still play and it is surprising to see how quickly they learn new musical-pieces/songs. That is where Mr. Dang's teaching comes in - absolutely a brilliant teacher, always encouraging and excellent with kids of all age. Mr. Dang has immense patience, a good listener and a splendid person to talk to. The kids used to look forward to the piano class. Mr. Dang himself is a very accomplished pianist and he has the very talented art of imparting his knowledge to his students. My brief stays during their classes with Mr. Dang encouraged me to become a student of him for a brief period of time, but with no fault of his, I had to quit (fat fingers). The point is Mr. Dang encourages people to learn at their own comfortable pace, there is no pressure and he always finds ways to bring about a positive feeling no matter the student's learning ability. Without any hesitation I will recommend Mr. Dang and if the kids or even I, ever go back to piano it would be to none other than our favorite pianist - Mr. Dang. Mr. Dang thanks for your time, patience, excellent guidance. and also continuous enthusiasm. Kids could not have been where they are today, not just as pianists, but as good human beings, without your positive influence. many thanks and regards (Shree and Abhishu)'s Dad Mr. Mukherjee
