Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, we set up an assessment and needs session. This is complimentary, of course. Then, we allow the client to choose the exact schedule that he or she wants. After that, we confirm location - either at home, at the office or online - always with a live instructor. Classes begin as soon as possible, giving progress reports to see the quality progress taking place - accent, fluency, specific vocabulary, preparing for an important meeting or presentation.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
All of our instructors are professionals. Over 80% have over 10 years experience, and all have at least 5 years. This is their full time job - their career. Everyone also has a degree in communication or language. A large percentage also has a master's degree. Not only are they smart, but they are engaging, and ensure your class not only gives you results, but is also fun.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Classes are $52/hour for online and $62/hour in person at your preferred location - office, home, nearby coffee shop.
How did you get started teaching?
The founder of Fluency Corp, Micah Bellieu, begain teaching over a decade ago in Campeche, Mexico, researching 2nd language acquisition, and also becoming fluent in Spanish. Since then, she has put her method into action, learning French and also Japanese. All instructors are passionate about ensuring the success of all learners.
What types of students have you worked with?
We have worked with employees and their families at Toyota, Hitachi, OSG USA, NTT Data, Mary Kay, American Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Ferrovial, Webber, California Rail Builders, Google, L'Oreal, and many more.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure you are going to speak at least 70% of the class. To become a great piano player, you cannot simply watch the teacher play. You must put in many hours of practice. It is the same with improving your communication - your teacher must ensure you are speaking most of the time.
