Janet L. says, "Chris is an excellent teacher who really emphasizes technique and mastering the basic foundations of classical guitar in order to be the best player that you can be. He is also just an outstanding human being, always giving me so much grace and encouragement whenever I do a great job following his instruction and end up playing a piece beautifully. Part of being his student is getting to learn from someone with lots of experience and wisdom playing guitar, but the other part is simply getting to know him as a person. Getting both is very special. I would highly recommend him to anyone!" Read more

Keiko M. says, "This is not my first time learning guitar privately online. Over the past few years, I invested a lot of my time and money to try to find a good teacher whom I can really learn from and inprove my skills and knowledge as a beginner guitarist. I haven't really gotten where I'd wanted to be as a musician, however despite of my effort. When I found Jeff as my teacher, things have been drastically changing rapidly. Just over the course of few lessons with him, I'm already progressing, understanding, and leaning a lot more than any of the previous teachers, videos, or online courses I've ever come across. His teaching method is very unique and specific to each individual so it's totally different from anything else I've tried so far. He is very patient with me and specific with what I need to learn and practice. I really feel like I'm attending a top level music school but even better because I'm learning one on one with Jeff, the top level music teacher. I live in Atlanta, GA so my sessions are being conducted exclusively online via Zoom but I don't see any difference if I'm learning in person in a room with him. He has a big white board behind him and writing down what I need to learn. Learning from him is a totally gift from heaven. Anyone who really wants to progress in guitar or wants to become a great musician, I think he is truly the one to go to. I consider myself as an intermidiate level but he can tailor his teaching to accomodate any levels. One regret that I have now is that why I didn't go to him sooner. I wouldn't have wasted 2 years of precious time trying to learn guitar. Becoming a great musician, I now know that I need a great teacher. I need the proper training by skilled, knowlegeble, talented teacher. That's who Jeff is without a doubt." Read more

My teaching approach: I tailor my lessons to fit the students goals. Beginner students want to learn songs, not theory. So I get the student playing /singing before I focus on scales and theory. I want to teach the student what they want to learn as well as giving them the skills to be a good musician/vocalist. I also determine what your learning style is, so that I can effectively teach you. I have over 14 years teaching experience in guitar and voice, and I teach songwriting and ukulele as well. I've been performing locally and internationally for over 7 years. My influences are: The Beatles, the Killers, Patty Griffin, Ray LaMontagne, 50'...

I’ve been playing the guitar for 20 years now. I’ve played in churches. Had my own band and write and produce my own music. My main focus is to help beginner guitarist who want to make their own music build a solid foundation in chords and scales structure. Learning strum and picking patterns with inquiring solid practice techniques and putting slight music theory behind it. I believe knowing too much theory especially music writing guitarist can hinder yourself to exploring new sounds. Which will allow you come up with your own Melodie’s and being original. If you’re wanting to be a technical guitarist and be engulfed in theory I suggest fi

Your Ukulele Lessons questions, answered

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Lessons.

How much do ukulele lessons cost?

In-person ukulele lessons cost $30 to $60 per hour on average to learn with a private instructor. 1-hour group ukulele classes cost $18 to $30 per student. Some music studios offer new student specials and sell discounted multiple-session packages that reduce the cost per class.

  • Online ukulele lessons cost $10 to $30 per month for subscription-based websites offering access to pre-recorded classes. While pre-recorded lessons are not the same as a real-time instructor, some websites allow you to submit practice videos for teacher review and feedback.
  • Online ukulele lessons using live webcam video calling with a private instructor cost $25 to $60+ per hour, depending on the teacher's experience and reputation.

Keep in mind you will also need to purchase a ukulele to practice in between lessons. Most entry-level ukuleles cost $50 to $150, while higher-end models cost $200 to $500+.

Is ukulele easy to learn, and can I teach myself?

Learning to play the ukulele can be easy and fun! Ukuleles are small and only have 4 strings, making chords and scales easy to learn and play without putting too much stress on your arms, wrists, and fingers. Additionally, ukulele strings are made of soft nylon, making them easier on your fingertips than guitar strings.

You can teach yourself to play the ukulele using YouTube videos and other free resources, but this method lacks structure and may take longer to see progress than if you learn with an instructor. A professional ukulele teacher can guide you in the right direction and save you from developing unhelpful habits early on in your practice.

How long does it take to learn ukulele?

While every individual is different, in general, it takes about 3 to 6 months of consistent practice to learn and become comfortable playing the ukulele. Practicing many hours per day may yield quicker results. That said, you can likely learn enough basic chord shapes and strumming patterns to play many favorite pop songs in just a matter of weeks, or even days.

How do I choose the best ukulele lessons near me?

When searching for ukulele lessons near you, be sure to:

  • Choose a teacher or music studio that has been in business 5+ years and is licensed and insured.
  • Check out their profile and reviews from past students on Lessons.com and Google.
  • Look for a teacher who has a flexible schedule that matches your needs.
  • Discuss your specific goals and ask them how they will structure their lessons to help you meet them.

What questions should I ask when searching for ukulele lessons?

Finding a ukulele instructor whose personality and teaching style meshes well with your own can make a huge difference in your learning and progress. Asking the right questions can help you choose the best ukulele teacher for you:

  • How long have you been playing and teaching ukulele?
  • What qualifications do you have?
  • What styles of ukulele do you teach?
  • Do I need to buy a ukulele to take lessons?
  • How long will it take for me to learn to play the ukulele?
  • How often and how long should I practice?
  • What is your cancellation policy?
  • Are you running any new student specials or discounts?

Learning lots of great things from Jeff. His approach to teaching is different than other teachers I have had. He emphasizes advance learning techniques to develop your guitar playing skills faster than I have learned in the past. Don't get me wrong these teaching methods are not the easiest to follow but the results are impressive if you commit to the process.
