New Song School Of The Arts

About

In 1999, in Lewisville, TX, a young and ambitious piano teacher—fresh out of college—opened a small studio with just a few eager students. That humble beginning, originally called New Song Piano Studio, was built on hard work, continued education, the guidance of mentors, word-of-mouth referrals, and above all, a genuine love for students and families. What started as a dream has grown into a thriving community.

Now, 26 years later, with an incredible staff and an instructional faculty of talented, highly educated, and gifted communicators, New Song School of the Arts (NSSOTA) continues to live out its mission: to Equip, to Enrich, and to Inspire.

Equip – We give students the tools, skills, and knowledge they need to grow as artists, whether they are just beginning or pursuing advanced training.

Enrich – We create meaningful opportunities inside and outside the classroom that broaden each student’s experience, from performances and showcases to festivals and community engagement.

Inspire – We cultivate a love for the arts that lasts a lifetime, encouraging students to express themselves with confidence, creativity, and passion.

We are passionate about creating enriching opportunities in music, visual arts, and theatre. At our beautiful flagship campus in Argyle, TX, students can choose from private lessons or group classes. For private instruction, each student is thoughtfully paired with an instructor and curriculum tailored to their personality, learning style, and goals. Our group classes provide a dynamic social learning experience, giving students opportunities for ensemble performance, next-level training, and team-driven goals.

Today, NSSOTA serves families at three locations:

Argyle, TX – Our state-of-the-art campus and home base, offering private lessons and group classes across music, theatre, and visual arts.

Southlake, TX – Nestled in one of the most vibrant communities in North Texas, our Southlake campus provides families access to exceptional arts education in a city known for its excellent schools, family-friendly atmosphere, and strong community spirit.

Denton, TX – At Denton Classical Academy, we partner to provide orchestra, show choir, and group piano classes, expanding arts opportunities for students in a classical education environment.

No matter the location, our mission remains the same: to equip, to enrich, and to inspire students through the transformative power of the arts.

My instructor is April, not Todd. April endeavors to provide enjoyable lessons and challenges to help me improve. She gets what I want to be able to do. She improvises where and when necessary. She knows her music and I feel like I am making great progress.

    Frequently asked questions

At New Song School of the Arts, our process is highly personalized because we believe every student is unique. The first step is a conversation with our Welcome Team, where we take time to get to know each student. We’ll ask questions like: What is their personality like? What are their interests and passions? How do they learn best? Do they have any learning challenges or special considerations? By learning as much as possible about the student upfront, we’re able to thoughtfully pair them with the right instructor and ensure that each and every lesson is catered to their individual needs. This intentional process sets the stage for a positive and enriching experience from the very first lesson.
At New Song School of the Arts, we are proud to have a highly educated and experienced teaching faculty. Many of our instructors hold advanced degrees in music, theatre, or visual arts, and several are active performers and working professionals in their fields. That being said, we also recognize that education alone does not necessarily make someone an effective teacher. A degree does not automatically translate into the ability to inspire, connect with, and guide students. That’s why our hiring process goes beyond credentials—we only bring on faculty who demonstrate both strong educational backgrounds and proven teaching experience. We look for instructors who not only know their craft, but also know how to communicate it in a way that resonates with each student. Our team is made up of passionate educators who can adapt to different learning styles, encourage growth, and create an engaging, supportive environment. This combination of education, experience, and heart for teaching is what makes our staff truly exceptional.
Yes, we use a clear and consistent pricing model for our private lessons. Tuition is charged monthly and is based on the length of each weekly lesson: 30-minute private lessons – $157 per month 45-minute private lessons – $235.50 per month 60-minute private lessons – $314 per month This straightforward system ensures families know exactly what to expect each month. Tuition not only covers the lesson time, but also provides access to performance opportunities, progress tracking, our supportive community, and our Family Management Portal system, which makes scheduling, payments, and communication with our team simple and convenient.
New Song School of the Arts was born out of Heather’s passion for teaching. She began teaching piano while she was still in college, driven by the joy of helping students grow in both skill and confidence. What started as a small piano studio in 1999, with just a handful of students, quickly grew as more families recognized the quality of instruction and the positive environment she created. Over the years, Heather has expanded New Song beyond piano into a full fine arts school, offering music, theatre, and visual arts with an incredible faculty of dedicated instructors. Through our commitment to excellence and our heart for students, New Song has grown into one of the largest fine arts schools in Texas, now serving over a thousand students each week. Our journey has always been fueled by a love for the arts and a belief in the life-changing impact they can have on every student.
Over the past 25+ years, we’ve had the privilege of working with students of all ages and backgrounds. Our youngest student has started with us at just 2 months old, and our oldest is 86 years young—showing that the arts truly have no age limits. We currently have over 100 adult students enrolled, many of whom are pursuing the arts for the first time or returning to a lifelong passion. In addition to this wide age range, we’ve taught students with many different learning styles and abilities. This includes working with hundreds of neurodiverse individuals of all ages, creating customized approaches that make the arts accessible, engaging, and rewarding for everyone. We believe that every student, regardless of background or ability, deserves the chance to experience the beauty and joy of the arts.
One of the events we’re most fond of at New Song School of the Arts is our biannual showcases, where we see well over 1,000 students perform and share what they’ve been working on. It’s an incredible celebration of talent, growth, and community. We also recently launched New Song’s Got Talent, which highlights some of the very best performers in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. Beyond that, we’re proud of the many students who play in our local garage bands around the metroplex, bringing live music into the community on a regular basis. In addition, we host eight full musical theatre productions each year, giving students the chance to shine on stage, as well as two art festivals where our School of Visual Arts students can showcase their creativity. Each of these events reflects what we value most—giving students meaningful opportunities to share their gifts, build confidence, and inspire others through the arts.
The best advice we can give to a student or parent looking to hire a teacher is this: look for more than just credentials. A degree or years of training are valuable, but what truly makes a great teacher is the ability to connect with the student, adapt to their learning style, and inspire them to grow. We recommend finding a teacher who is both educated and experienced, but also one who listens, encourages, and makes learning enjoyable. Every student is unique, so it’s important to choose a teacher or school that will cater lessons to the individual, not just follow a one-size-fits-all approach. Finally, look for an environment where performance opportunities, community, and progress tracking are part of the experience. The right teacher doesn’t just teach skills—they help students discover a lifelong love for the arts.
Before starting lessons, it’s helpful for students (and parents) to think through a few key questions so they can find the right fit with a teacher. For example: What are my goals? (Am I learning for fun, preparing for auditions, wanting to perform, or pursuing long-term mastery?) What are my interests? (Are there specific styles, artists, or creative outlets that inspire me?) How do I learn best? (Do I thrive with structure, prefer a more relaxed approach, or need extra encouragement?) Are there any learning challenges or special considerations I should share? It’s also important to consider whether the school or teacher provides opportunities outside of the classroom—such as performances, festivals, showcases, or group experiences—so that learning extends beyond weekly lessons. These experiences can be just as valuable as the lesson itself, helping students build confidence, community, and a deeper love for the arts. At New Song School of the Arts, we offer numerous opportunities for students to grow, perform, and develop both inside and outside of the classroom.
