I have over 15 years of teaching experience and 2 degrees in classical voice. I received my undergraduate from The Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music and my masters degree from Rice University's prestigious Shepherd School of Music. I served as an adjunct professor of voice and currently work as a teaching artist with multiple opera companies, including Opera Philadelphia, the Houston Grand Opera and the Los Angeles Opera. I have taught piano to all age groups for over 15 years.

My students regularly receive scholarships to prestigious colleges and conservatories all over the county. I pride my studio on being a safe and empathetic space for students to develop their instruments and push themselves to master new skills.

Voice students learn classic technique, musical theater technique and pop styling. We work finding each student’s authentic sound, connecting to the breath, performance techniques, connecting deeper with their emotions while singing, and how prepare for auditions and competitions for advanced students. We spend and equal amount of time developing proper technique and applying it to songs.

Singers will learn to sing songs in Italian/German/French/English, as well as musical theater standards and pop songs.

Piano students learn all of their major/minor scales, music theory, proper finger technique, classical songs, pop songs, memorization and performance techniques.

Consistent practice habits are discussed every lesson in a safe and encouraging way to keep students progressing every week.

I love watching students figure out how to sing/play the piano with more ease. Both singing and playing piano are such enjoyable and invigorating activities that challenge the mind body and heart. I encourage authenticity in each of my students and help them tap into their innate creative resources. I have watched even my most quiet, reserved students open up into vivacious singers and pianists.

Liz is my 14 yr. old daughters vocal coach and I cannot say enough about what a wonderful experience it has been!
She has helped my daughter improve her vocal strength and quality and taught her breath control. Shes teaching her how to mix her head voice and chest voice for smoother transitions. She has helped her find more power behind her voice and a new level of control and ease. She has challenged her and brought her voice to a beautiful new level!
Liz helps my daughter with music for her H.S. mixed chorus and jury tests, for which she has received high recognitions. She also helps her prepare for musical theatre auditions and other school performances. She encourages her to bring in music that is special to her or just fun pieces she wants to attempt. She helps her find her strengths and weaknesses and really pushes her to go further than she thinks possible. Liz has a warm and wonderful personality which has really made my daughter feel comfortable, especially when singing songs that require her to be vulnerable and connect to her emotions.
She runs an extremely professional studio and the payment, scheduling, and communication process is easy and efficient.
Liz is an EXCELLENT teacher and I highly recommend her !

I started taking lessons with Liz at the start of my junior year. That year was the most transformative year for my voice. Everything about my singing had become so much better and my friends started saying they’ve never heard me sing like that. Liz knows exactly what to fix and how to fix it. I’ve never had a voice teacher that I’ve worked better with. She knows so well how to communicate and work with you through any issue. The thing that I appreciate most is how supportive she is. She has helped me be so much more confident in my singing and I don’t know if anyone else could have done that. I’ve never felt insecure or scared around her she is just such a warm presence. If anyone asks me about a recommendation for a voice teacher, I would recommend her without question.

Liz is a WONDERFUL teacher: organized, patient, kind, and thoughtful! My daughters have been taking virtual piano lessons with Liz, and the growth and learning has been exponential. Liz makes the lessons fun, and she engages with them on a developmentally appropriate level all the way through (they are both in elementary school). Liz is very communicative and available to us, as well. She has a clear curriculum, and she communicates her expectations directly with the kids and with us. She has great suggestions for music learning resources, too. Our daughters are reading music and playing the piano!! Liz is awesome! We highly recommend!!

My daughter has been taking Lizs voice lessons for a year, and I can see and hear huge progress. This huge progress is also confirmed by professional vocalists at school, choirs, auditions etc. Liz managed to turn each voice lesson into a bright and unique experience, full of fun and learning. Every lesson they would tackle a new challenge, and almost every lesson there is a breakthrough, and this is what makes them such a unique and great experience, producing a lot of happiness.
Liz always appreciates the students current state and adjusts the lesson agenda and workload such that it could be the most productive and efficient.
I would definitely recommend taking Lizs lessons for everyone!

    Frequently asked questions

I will generally assess the student's abilities in the first lesson and then assign them music according to where they are in their development.  I work on ear training and music theory with all of my students, both voice and piano.  For voice students, we work on vocal technique for half of the lesson, then proceed to work on a classic song for the remainder of the lesson.  For students who wish to take both piano and voice lessons, we split the lesson in half, generally 30min voice and 30min piano for beginners.

I have taught as an adjunct professor of voice and currently work as a teaching artist for multiple opera companies, including Opera Philadelphia, the Los Angeles Opera and the Houston Grand Opera.  I have a bachlorate and masters degree in vocal performance, 15+ years of competitive piano experience.  I am trained in social and emotional learning and guide my students with empathy and respect.

I started teaching elementary level piano in highschool, and taught all the way through college.  I began working with singers in college and fell in love teaching. My grandmother taught me when I was young and it was always a special time together. What I love about my work is the life long relationships I get to build with my students and their parents.  It's honor to bring music into people's lives.

All ages and levels!  I love working with a variety of people with differing levels and goals.
