Frequently asked questions

Jim McLean has been extremely influential in my teaching career from a standpoint of understanding that everyone swings the club differently.  Jim’s research of parameters and corridors that all top ball strikers have in common is extremely valuable; it helps to prioritize the important fundamentals in lessons, which ultimately gives not only myself but also the student the reassurance they are working on the correct fundamentals.

I was fortunate to watch Jason Day practice at the Jim McLean Golf Center in Fort Worth Texas from 2009-2011.  It was not uncommon for me to show up at the facility first thing in the morning and Jason would already be working.  As the day progressed, I would study Jason, take notes on how we would practice and utilize our facility.  I found it interesting for a young man at such an early game to truly understand how he needed to practice and more importantly practice efficiently.   He would take notes, write down his thoughts and concerns, practice his routine and utilize our short game course daily.  It truly was a great learning experience for not only our staff but the our students who got to share this point in time with now the #1 player in the world.  If I had the opportunity to teach Jason Day, I would share with him the critical insights that I saw first hand on a daily basis at our golf facility.  It would be my goal to keep him on the same practice routine that got him to where he is today.
