About

I am an independent dance instructor who is very passionate about teaching all styles of partnering dancing and have been teaching Ballroom, Latin and Swing Dancing in the Dallas area since 1998. To me, the only rule of dancing is to have fun. I conduct both group and private dance lessons, plus I also choreograph wedding dances and showcases too. I see dancing as my life’s work and I enjoy sharing it with others.

I enjoy helping and inspiring prospective dance students achieve their personal dance goals and working one on one with them. I will do whatever I can to help them.

Through time spent years ago learning ballroom, I came to know quite a few dance instructors, either personally or through their students who were acquaintances of mine. Either they sweet talk you into buying expensive packages (and then disappear), or convince you to spend a fortune to train and enter competitions...when maybe all you want to do is learn to dance socially and have FUN. John’s whole approach is, “if it’s not fun, why do it?” No drama, no hassles, no pressure! He’s more patient and supportive than any instructor I’ve ever known, and believe me, you will have fun while you’re learning!

John is a wonderful instructor! He is a high class professional who is patient, creative and full of integrity. I look forward to each one of his lessons because he develops and nurtures my dancing skills with kindness and caring. It is a joy to learn and to grow from Johns instruction.

John is an excellent teacher because he is so patient and encouraging; he believed in me before I believed in me! Hes a teacher who loves what he does, and that comes through in the way he teaches. Hes also very talented, both in his dancing and his choreography -- always beautifully done, a joy to watch.

    Frequently asked questions

I was introduced to ballroom dancing in 1998 by Jobea Bittenbender. She was the one that got me hooked on ballroom for life. Over the years I have also been periodically trained by Aimee Mendez, Randy Lynn and Christopher Ashley, to name a few.

When I was studying ballet, I was introduced to ballroom dancing by the mother of my ballet instructor. I was hooked from the start. Not only did it improve my skills as a dance partner (ballet), but it provided me with a career that I love and will allow me to dance for the rest of my life, long after I retire from ballet. Not only is ballroom great exercise and fun, but it fills my life with passion and purpose as well.

There is a specific instructor for a specific student. If you love to dance but do not like your instructor's approach, then you will not learn and it will become a chore, instead of a fun experience. Take your time and find the right instructor that fills your wants and needs.
