I have successfully helped students of all levels, ages, and abilities with their communication skills. I work with students based on their needs, schedules, and preferences. I can readily assess strengths and weaknesses, and direct instruction accordingly.
I am passionate about helping my students improve their understanding of the language and culture. I love it when they are learning!

How did you get started teaching?
I taught in Mexico for 10 years, at both a private elementary school, and at a university where I wrote two textbooks. I have taught for over 40 years, mostly at public high schools. I love teaching Spanish, adapting to the needs of my students.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all levels and ages. My youngest students were 6 years old, and my oldest are retirees in their 70’s. I specialize in secondary level, helping students be successful if they are struggling in classes, preparing for exams (I was on the Spanish AP Test Development Committee for 6 years, as well as working as an AP exam reader for 16 years.) and those students who need to fill in gaps in understanding, practice specific skills, or prepare for projects, travel, or before taking the next course.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I travel to Spain every summer to work with Spanish teachers and students. I’m also on the Board of Directors for the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. Next summer we will be meeting in Puerto Rico, and I’m working on a service project program to implement there, to benefit both students who want to get involved, and the people of Puerto Rico.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Determine your language goals and be sure to communicate whatever strategies work best for you.
