Chris D. says, "Russ has been awesome with my son. He brings a lot of energy to every session and you can tell he genuinely loves what he does. My son looks forward to going every time, and the results speak for themselves. His swing has really improved and he is way more confident at the plate now. Highly recommend Russ if you are looking for a hitting coach." Read more

My approach to every single ball player is different since no two players are alike. I will observe the mechanics of which they are already are accustomed to and make minor adjustments to make everything more fluid and to get the best out of every player. I played baseball all the way from the time I was nine years old till I was twenty-two in college playing multiple positions. I have vast knowledge in all positions that can and would help make an improvement in your players game. I enjoy passing down the knowledge to the new generation coming up. Since I was nine years old my parents were able to put me with the best coaches which made me i...

I created a foundation around those two words because thats the overall goal…to get paid. In high school u play for scholarships, college you play for NIL deals or pro contracts. Either way you gotta put the work in to GET PAID!

Your Baseball Training questions, answered

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Lessons.com.

How much do private baseball lessons cost?

Private baseball lessons cost $50 to $75 per 30-minute lesson and $80 to $140 per 1-hour lesson. The price depends on your location, the instructor's experience and reputation, the student's age, and whether the lesson includes extras like a video analysis of the player's performance.

Many coaches offer lower prices per lesson if you purchase a package that includes 6 or 10 lessons. The average package prices are:

  • 6 pack of 30-minute lessons: $270 – $420
  • 6 pack of 1-hour lessons: $450 – $720
  • 10 pack of 30-minute lessons: $400 – $600
  • 10 pack of 1-hour lessons: $700 – $1,100

Are private baseball lessons worth it?

Private baseball lessons may be worth it if your child currently plays the sport, loves it, and has expressed an interest in improving their skills and performance. Private lessons can help your child advance their skills, develop good habits, and avoid forming bad habits.

Motivation and a drive to improve are key factors in whether or not the lessons will actually help your child. It's important for your child to practice in between private lessons.

Children who receive private baseball lessons are usually more likely to advance to playing at higher levels than children who only receive group coaching during regular team practice. However private lessons don't guarantee your child will play collegiate or professional baseball.

What is the difference between private and semi-private baseball lessons?

In a private baseball lesson, the athlete trains one-on-one with an instructor who tailors the lesson specifically to their needs and skill level. In a semi-private lesson, two athletes work together with one instructor. Semi-private lessons, also called partner lessons, typically cost 10% to 20% less than private lessons. However, because the trainer's attention is divided between the two athletes, the athletes don't get the same level of individualized instruction as they would in a private lesson.

What age should you start pitching lessons?

Baseball instructors generally recommend that children start pitching lessons at around 8 to 12 years old, though there are no age requirements or exact rules. Learning fundamental pitching skills early on can help your child avoid developing bad habits that will be difficult for them to break later.

However, your child should not start taking pitching lessons until they are comfortable throwing the ball as well as catching the ball one-handed.

Jarrod S.
Coach Russ is great. He is very engaging with my son, keeps sessions enjoyable with stories and humor, and creates an environment that makes learning fun. What really sets Coach Russ apart is his expansive knowledge and his ability to quickly identify the underlying cause of an issue rather than simply addressing the symptom. He has a great eye for detail and can take things back to the fundamentals, rebuilding skills from the ground up to create lasting improvement. The thing my son and I appreciate most about Coach Russ is the time he takes to thoroughly break down his explanations and lessons. He makes sure that not only my son, but even I, fully understand the cause-and-effect relationship behind what he is teaching. That level of communication and attention to detail has made a tremendous difference in both understanding and development.
