Brynn S. says, "Linda is an absolutely incredible teacher. My children have excelled under her direction and guidance. Linda is organized and dedicated to her role. I have three different children in lessons with her, and she approaches each one with an individualized approach, always finding ways to help them reach their full potential. I have watched my children meet and exceed their goals as they have been under her care. I appreciate the full musical training that is extended, with lessons, ear training, music theory, recitals, Federation and Silent Film Festival involvement. My children are not only understanding how to play the piano, but comprehend the dynamics and theory behind it. Linda has made music a joy for our family! We consider her a dear friend and we feel so blessed for the strength and goodness she adds to our life." Read more

How do I find the best classical piano lessons near me?

Find classical piano lessons from private instructors by looking through the listings here on the Lessons website. Local music schools sometimes offer virtual lessons online as well.

Prior to hiring a local piano instructor, you should always:

  • Read their ratings on sites such as Lessons and Google.
  • Talk to students on their references list.
  • Collect a written agreement and a lesson timeline before lessons begin.

What question do I ask when choosing classical piano lessons?

When you're searching for a piano teacher, be sure to ask these questions:

  • How many years have you been teaching piano?
  • What is your formal music education background?
  • Which classical music composers are your favorites?
  • What is the typical age range of your students?
  • Do you offer a trial lesson, either for free or at a discounted rate?
  • If I don't have a piano, what type of keyboard should I get for practicing?
  • How much practice should I be doing outside of our lessons?
  • What textbooks do I need, and what's their cost?
  • Do you give assignments or pieces to memorize after each lesson?
  • Can you adapt your teaching style based on the individual student's needs?
  • What should I bring with me to our lessons?
  • How many different piano genres and styles can you teach?
  • Can I get a written copy of our agreement and the payment terms?
  • What is your policy for cancelling a lesson?
  • Will I be able to choose some of my own favorite songs to learn?

Aaron taught me piano lessons all throughout my teenage years. He's a great pianist, first of all. He's also an amazing teacher. Something I really enjoyed about having lessons with him is that he helped me to enjoy the music I was playing. We'd do the books, but he'd also help me with songs that I'd chosen that were interesting or important to me. I'd say one of Aaron's best teaching skills is his patience with youth. I'm certain I must have been a frustrating teenager at times. I'd play while he was talking, fail to practice, do the theory homework 3 minutes before he came. But I'm sure grateful Aaron was patient with me because I highly value the skills he taught me. If you have teenagers taking piano lessons, I *highly* recommend Aaron. If you're an adult taking lessons, I also *highly* recommend Aaron. Aaron isn't only a great Piano teacher, he's a great friend.

Kayla teaches you to not only play notes but also how to analyze the music in order to perform the musical number in the manner that the composer wrote the selection. Kayla is very easy going, professional, non-confrontational, complementary when appropriate and critic if necessary. Kayla is an excellent instructor and I highly recommend her to those individuals who want to play and understand music as the composer intended it to be performed.
