About
I've worked for 50 years as a professional player and recording artist, and for me, the guitar has been a tool for growth, sharing, peace, and joy. It can be for you too! I'm opening some slots for novice players over 12 years of age at my studio, Babymoon Recording, in American Fork, Utah, on weekday afternoons. The charge is $35 per half-hour lesson. If you want to hear me play, my latest album (of 18) called "Marvin Payne All I Am" is available everywhere music can be downloaded. (A number of my students have developed a desire to write songs, and I’ve provided guidance there, as well, having written a couple hundred songs, all commercially released.)
Thanks!
Marvin Payne
I love to see students "get" concepts, skills, tools for expressing themselves. When I see that lightbulb over their heads, I just grin.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We start with chord families, exploring how the chords relate to one another. Right-hand stylings appear in the second week. We learn a few fun licks right from the start.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was scholarshipped in music theory at Brigham Young University, but most of my insights are from five decades of professionally writing, playing, and recording music, most of it guitar-based.
