    Frequently asked questions

I like to meet one on one to discuss the students goals, availability and any questions about learning language skills. Once I have a good idea of their goals we can work to set up an agreement for weekly coursework. I Have a basic textbook that I like to use, as well as suggestions for support materials. Once agreed upon, I order the books and materials for the beginning class.

I was blessed to have lived, worked and studied in Brasil for my Portuguese skills over 19 different times. Ranging from1-3 year stays each time.

I have studied in Costa Rica and returned to work and visit over some 20 years. I taught ESL to foreign school children and large corporate employees for major Telecommunication firms.

I tend to choose a flat per hour rate of $35/hr up to $50/hr,,for basic Spanish or Portuguese but depends on distance to travel.

I love to travel. That and the desire to understand the countries and cultures better, as well as become part of the community

I teach both Adult professionals, retirees, as well as students who want to learn language skills.

I like to suggest activities to my adult students where they can enjoy the music, food and ambiance of the language they are trying to learn. It enhances their experience

Take your time and be sure that you can communicate your goals to them clearly. It makes a lot of difference

What their goals are.  What they hope to accomplish by what time.  Most importantly, have patience. Languages take time to learn correctly. And lastly, does the teacher's methods, pricing and flexibility match your needs.
