Coach Chris Brown
“Leading Champions on and off the basketball court” and developing life long Golfers
Coach Chris Brown has been an award-winning basketball coach for more than 25 years. Coaching high school and club teams in Georgia and Virginia he has served as a teacher, role model and mentor for the thousands of kids whose lives he has touched. Coach Brown started his playing career at Lafayette High School where he was a unanimous 1st Team All-Peninsula selection. He earned a scholarship to Norfolk State University where his team won the CIAA Conference champions in 1986. After college, he coached in Atlanta at Pace Academy, and later at St. Francis School. In 2006 he returned to Virginia and coached first at Walsingham Academy in Williamsburg where he was a part of a State Championship Team. Later he moved cross-town to Williamsburg Christian Academy. His team was runner-up in the state tournament in 2010. In 2011 they once again were runner-up, with Coach Brown selected as conference coach of the year. In 2012 he coached the WCA girls basketball team to a state championship and was honored as state coach of the year. From 2013 to 2015 he was head coach of the Lafayette High School girls basketball team. His team took the conference championships in 2014 and 2015, led on the court by his daughter Keyana, who would go on to play college basketball at ODU and graduated from Va state University. She is now a college basketball coach
In 2016 Coach Brown returned to WCA as The School Athletic Director and boys basketball head coach. He took his team to the state semi-finals that year, and won Conference and State Coach of the Year recognition. The next year his team went all the way, winning the Va State Championship and earning state coach of the year honors for Coach Brown.
Brown moved over to the Girls side of the ball from 2017-2019 again as head coach of the Surry High School girls basketball team. In his first season, he guided the team to a conference championship and state runner-up honors with a record of 28-3 in his 1st year and followed up in2018-2019 with a 29-2 record Conference and Regional Championships and again were Runner Ups in the State Championship game. Coach Brown took over the Jamestown High School boys team in 2020 and led them to a 19-5 record and a regional tournament berth
Ciach Brown started playing golf in Atlanta Ga in 2000 and has coached High School golf for 5 years developing several golfers that have Hine on to play at the college and amateur level.
Coach Brown is the 9th of 13 children and learned from his mom and grandmother to be strong, work hard, meet people where they are and be a part of the solution not the problem.
