About this pro

As a long-time competitive golfer at the collegiate and amatuer level - I bring a unique skillset to my instruction.  Aside from an in-depth knowledge of the golf swing and human biomechanics, I offer real world experience on more than just the golf swing.

I know how to play the game and get the ball in the hole.  Golf is more than just hitting good shots.  It's about course management, mental toughness, visualization, fitness, nutrition, and much more.

As a student under my teaching you will receive instruction all aspects of the game.

I use a variety of teaching techniques and tools - which include but not limited to: hands-on instruction, video analysis as well as Foresight Launch Monitor data analysis. Utilizing all three of these methods in combination will teach you how to make your golf swing effective and efficient.

I am extremely passionate about the game of golf.  As a self-proclaimed golf nut, I am admittedly obsessed with constant improvement in all aspects of the game.  I know there are very few better feelings than well struck golf shot.

As an instructor the value for me is in the success of my students.  With the way I teach we can see concrete improvement over time - in your scores on the course and in your swing on video.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Our first session will always begin with a short consultation. We'll discuss your experience with the game, as well as your goals and aspirations for what you want to achieve.

We'll create an instruction plan that starts with an assessment of your game in all aspects (full swing, short game, mental game, etc.) and proceed from there - meeting as many times per week/month that you need/desire.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I competed at the collegiate level for Christopher Newport University.  During my tenure we captured three consecutive conference championships, where I took the individual title my senior year. We won a number of tournaments and achieved national rankings as high at #8 in the country.

Currently I work for a company testing golf equipment.  I am the Director of a testing facility in Yorktown, VA where I watch roughly 75 different golfers hit a variety of clubs.  I utilize Foresight GCQuad Launch Monitors to collect my data - which gives me detailed insight on how good golf shots are hit.

I have served as a Golf & Life Skills Coach for the First Tee of the Virginia Peninsula - here I teach young children core values of life through the game of golf.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

Our first session will be $75 - this includes the full assessment of your game, a sit down consultation, video analysis and one hour of instruction.

All subsequent sessions are a standard $50/hour.

How did you get started teaching?

I started teaching after finding success as a Golf & Life Skills Coach at the First Tee.  I found that my ability to provide instruction to young children could be utilized for high school, collegiate golfers and adults.

What types of students have you worked with?

I've worked with children as young as age four to seniors in their 70s.  Skill levels ranging from beginners to single digit handicappers.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Look for someone who's going to be more than just "the person who gives you lessons." Look for a coach.  Golf is one of the hardest sports out there and it's important to have a well-rounded instructor who cares as much about your success as you do.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

A student serious about learning/improving on their golf game should first sit down and decide what their aspirations/goals are.

They should also determine what they expect out of a coach. Clearly defined goals and expectations can drastically increase the rate of improvement.
