Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
For guitar students I evaluate where they are in musical training. I typically teach a student 3 chords and pick a song they like so that they can play a song quickly in their lessons.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
55 years as a multi instrumentalist in rock and roll bands and singin tenor in church choir.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$ 30.00 per half hour, $ 55.00 per hour if paid in advance. We do Zoom or in person.
How did you get started teaching?
The curate at my church recommended I learn guitar and he taught me a few chords. One of the best ways of learning o play is to teach others so I taught a few of my friends.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all tyoes of students as young as 8 and as old as 70. Music dissolves the years.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Do a trial session and see if you gel.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Level of commitment. Can they spend 15 minutes a day learning their instrument? Practice makes perfect or at least pretty darn good.
