About

In addition to being a classically trained Soprano, Ms. Stalnecker teaches voice privately to students from age 11-99. She believes in teaching a foundation of good breath support and proper body alignment to support singing any genre of music. Along with numerous singing engagements all over the Metro New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania area, Ms. Stalnecker has over 15 years of private teaching on her resume. She taught in the New York Metro area for 6 years out of her home studio and at Van Hoven Music in Denville, New Jersey. From 2011-2012, she had the honor of teaching at the Preparatory department of the John J. Cali Music School at Montclair State University, New Jersey. In the fall of 2012, she relocated to upstate New York and taught for 3 years at the Glens Falls Music Academy in Glens Falls, New York. In addition to teaching in Glens Falls, Ms. Stalnecker taught out of her home studio in Saratoga Springs, New York. In July 2015, Ms. Stalnecker relocated to Gilbert, Arizona and now teaches out of her home studio in Gilbert and is on staff at Gilbert Music and Lessons in Gilbert Town Square.

She was kind, understanding & fun. I liked her a lot, and felt fortunate to be working with someone so knowledgeable. I would absolutely recommend her to everyone. I realized my health issues would prevent me from continuing. If that were not a factor, the lessons with Gretchen would have been the highlight of my week!

She is very patient and explains why she wants you to do what she asks. She allows you to bring your own music and then spends half your lesson time working on your songs. She is friendly and welcoming. I’d recommend her to anyone who wants to improve their vocal skills.

    Frequently asked questions

I access each student and determine their level when they enter the studio and we work together to build from there.

I have over 15 years of teaching experience for all levels and all voice types.  Currently I have more men in my studio but I personally studied with a male for most of my training.  I also have been performing and working as a freelance singer for years.  My highest level of education is a Masters in Arts in Vocal Performance.

Yes I start all my 30 min lessons at $35.

My mentor encouraged me to start teaching and offered me vocal referrals.

I have students as young as 7 and I have students in their 70s!

Every year we do an end of the year recital and I love seeing my students shine!

If you are serious about your voice take lessons!  Find a teacher that works for you.  We don't have all the answers but working with someone else to improve your skills is always a bonus!

Decide what goals you have in mind and make a plan to work towards them!  It may be just singing better at karaoke or preparing for an audition!  I always encourage my students in their goals whatever they are as none are too small!
