Perseverance Pros In School And Sports
About
I am in my mid 20s and not long ago I was in the boat of needing to be a good athlete and student. None of my abilities came naturally expect my passion and perseverance to excel. I wasn’t the varsity player, but I won heart and hustle awards and was a captain of teams. I didn’t get crazy scholarships or recognition, but I was top 10 of my class in high school, magna cum laude in undergraduate studies, and held a 3.87 GPA in my masters program. I completed my MS thesis on sports and why they are so beneficial to community for all people. So I love to just see kids get out and play as an escape instead of as a pressure. Let me help you or your child improve with progress and not perfection in mind.
Sense of community. Keeps me active. People try something new. Push your limits. Doing your best.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Find out their goals and learning style. Find out the baseline knowledge they already have and what is the highest priority to learn next. Be more strict at first until trust and understanding is established.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I taught sports and movement classes to preschoolers for 1 year and was a small group leader and camp cabin leader for 10-12 year olds for a combined 4 years. I took classes on youth development. I have a certificate in intercultural competence. I am also CPR certified.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Honestly I am just trying to make some extra cash as my first job out of school doesn’t pay well. So I am flexible. I would say $20 an hour for sports and tutoring, but it depends on distance from house and if extra materials/space is required.
How did you get started teaching?
Friends just knew I was gifted leading and can explain things very well so they asked me to help their kids. Then I got a part-time job formally teaching sports for a bit. It would be great to do it in the evenings again.
What types of students have you worked with?
2 year olds to 40 year olds needing resource advice for research or course work. Students who have a bad attitude and students who are excited about everything. Students that a quiet and reserved and students that test the line. Students that want to be my friend and students that just need to use me for an end game and then leave.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
any well done 5K race that the community rallies behind always warms my heart. And the Indian Wells tennis tournament is a very accessible spectacle
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure it is someone who challenges you.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What direction has the teacher given you before? Why was it not useful enough? What part do you understand well to be proud of and what parts keep tripping you up?
